Overview

Technical Sustainability Manager will manage, oversee design & deliver the Site Electrification workstream which will enable the installation of electrically powered process and utilities equipment & EV charging infrastructure, as required and detailed in the site decarbonisation roadmaps.

 

Job Purpose

Develop and maintain a Europe wide electrical grid upgrade masterplan and timeline, ensuring this is aligned to the sector decarbonisation glidepath. 

 

The role will be supported by local project management teams in each Business Unit (BU). The role requires engagement with DNO’s and National Grid operators to upgrade connections to site and work with designers, OEM’s and installation contractors to upgrade and renew onsite infrastructure to distribute the incoming power to the points of need.

 

In addition the role will identify and deliver opportunities for onsite & near site generation from PV & wind assets with solutions to maximise the benefits of excess generation including grid export, battery and thermal storage. The role also covers Supply Chain Move activities with EV charging infrastructure required for yard tractors, light, medium and heavy goods vehicles in addition to cars & bikes. The initial focus is on our Top 20 GHG emitting sites that are located across Spain, Portugal, UK, Belgium, NL, Poland , Romania and Turkey. 

Responsibilities

·  Provide technical expertise when needed for the roll-out of proven electrical technologies.
·  Safe execution of works to required electrical working safety standards.
·  Co-ordinate input required by CTS engineering design teams (Facilities, civils, utilities, equipment, controls )
·  Ensure Sector and Local EHS are engaged at the earliest stages with HAZOP and safety study requirements agreed.
·  Ensure Legal and Finance colleagues are engaged to provide support, guidance and input
·  Ensure FM Global are engaged and projects follow the Plan Review process ensuring that solutions and projects do not impact site HPR status or RiskMark scores.
·  Ensure local authority planning and building regulation procedures are mapped out and followed.
·  Effectively network, influence, negotiate, communicate and contract with external technical design and project management providers.
·  Ensure TPDD process is completed in required markets.
·  Management of design sub-suppliers including compliance to Country, PepsiCo and FM Global standards, cost & schedule development, permitting processes & technical surveys
·  Will be required to transition from a ‘strategic view’ to ‘hands on’ approach as projects progress key decisions are made.
·  Ensure that project location options align with the full site masterplan with enabling works and costs accurately captured for all projects.
·  Occasional flexibility to support other major engineering agendas & initiatives.
·  Be capable of business travel internationally on frequent basis. 
Qualifications

·  Technical Degree or equivalent experience & training in Electrical Engineering
·  Experience of HV systems and equipment
·  Ability to view and review engineering drawings
·  Project management experience
·  Ability to explain complex technical issues/solutions to a non-technical audience
·  Exemplary interpersonal skills with ability to influence technical community within the organisation over a wide cultural geography
·  Team player, self motivating, able to deal with uncertainty and complexity
·  Strong analytical skills, high sense of precision in details
·  Fluent in English.
