Overview
As part of the Life Sciences team and the Gatorade Sports Science Institute (GSSI), this Scientist will support PepsiCo hydration & fitness beverage brands. PepsiCo Life Sciences serves as the nutrition guide to help ensure our products meet our PEP+ goals, are efficacious, and contain compelling, backed-by-science claims. Founded in 1985, the Gatorade Sports Science Institute (GSSI), a team within PepsiCo Life Sciences, is committed to helping athletes optimize their health and performance through research, innovation and education in hydration and nutrition science. Ensuring our products are backed and led by science is a fundamental aspect of the GSSI program. This role reports to the head of hydration & GSSI Innovation on the Life Sciences Team.
Responsibilities
Lead life science-focused activities for all fitness and non-sport hydration brands. Responsibilities include innovation support for Propel, GFit, LifeWTR, Aquafina, Bubly, and Soulboost.
· Ensure scientific integrity of claims and communications are maintained throughout product lifecycle from concept to post-commercialization.
· Collaborate closely with Regulatory Affairs, Scientific Affairs and other related functions to ensure communicated benefits or ingredients meet local regulations and safety standards.
· Lead scientific competitive insights program for all sport products and represent Life Sciences/GSSI during cross-functional, collaborative competitive reviews.
· Collaborate with Cross-functional partners in R&D, marketing, legal and sales to influence product design and manage science-based communication surrounding product propositions
· Represent Life Sciences with cross-functional partners in R&D, marketing, legal, and sales.
· Collaborate across global teams on research, innovation, service, and education initiatives.
· Influence brand vision and feasibility of deliverables with a sense of creativity, agility and scientific credibility.
Compensation and Benefits:
· The expected compensation range for this position is between $61,700 - $103,250 based on a full-time schedule.
· Location, confirmed job-related skills and experience will be considered in setting actual starting salary.
· Bonus based on performance and eligibility; target payout is 5% of annual salary paid out annually.
· Paid time off subject to eligibility, including paid parental leave, vacation, sick, and bereavement.

Qualifications
· MSc or higher in Exercise Science/Kinesiology/Sports Nutrition or related science discipline
· Demonstrable expertise in the areas of nutritional sciences, hydration, and/or exercise physiology
· Ability to think creatively and drive human-centric thinking, leveraging qualitative and/or quantitative insights to influence innovation
· Ability to lead, plan and oversee scientific substantiation of functional ingredients for benefits/claims
· Ability to distill science into communication that is understandable and relatable to partners outside of R&D
· Self-starter with good interpersonal communication skills and the ability to partner with cross\u0002functional teams including Scientific Affairs and Regulatory (safety and regulatory substantiation/approvals), Marketing/Insights (business needs/concept development), Product Development (ingredient/product feasibility assessments), R&D Platform, and others
· Flexibility and willingness for occasional domestic travel (approximately 10%) to collaborate with PepsiCo colleagues in support of program and product innovation
