Overview
PepsiCo R&D is looking for R&D Life Sciences Scientist, Europe in Leicester.
Job Purpose
R&D Life Sciences Scientist you will provide Nutrition Sciences support to Europe Sector Business needs by supporting the development of new products and messaging, portfolio transformation and nutrition analysis, helping enable the organization to make informed business decisions on health and wellness related opportunities and issues. Your role will encompass Foods and Beverages across Europe and involve leadership and guidance on portfolio assessment and analysis, working in partnership with cross functional teams.
Responsibilities
· Be part of a business focused team of Nutrition Scientists to support the Foods and Beverages categories across Europe/Sector to deliver science based sound guidance for effective Foods and Beverages innovation.
· Be involved in leadership and guidance on portfolio assessment and analysis.
· Deliver science based nutrition counsel to R&D, Regulatory Affairs, Marketing and Corporate Affairs teams focused on the Foods and Beverages Category across Europe Region.
· Collaborate across the wider Europe Life Sciences (LS) team on research, innovation and education initiatives.
· Be a key nutrition partner working collaboratively with local teams to provide daily support for our Food & Beverages Brands across Europe Region and provide insight and guidance to innovation projects.
· Lead as Nutrition Sciences representative the working partnerships with key internal stakeholders, namely Consumer Services and Health and Wellness.
· Create and deliver nutrition education programmes across the Business and champion PepsiCo’s nutrition strategy in daily tasks.
· Carry out competitive analyses and portfolio assessments against nutritional criteria to facilitate Business needs and priorities.
· Build key relationships across a complex matrix environment with competing priorities, with ability to balance scientific interests with commercial needs.
· Network externally with scientific stakeholders, seeking opportunities for external presence to improve credibility of LS team.
Qualifications
· Advanced degree required in Nutrition Science or related discipline (Masters or PhD)
· A good practical knowledge of nutrition, food and public health
· An ability to translate science into communications for non-scientific colleagues
· Good numeracy skills and ability to interpret complex and conflicting data
· Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
· Good prioritisation and attention to detail
· Team player with capability of assuming ownership and working independently
· A self-starter who strives for high standards, seeks innovative solutions, drives continuous improvements of processes or methods and who demonstrates a high degree of intellectual curiosity
· Flexibility and willingness for occasional travel.
