Responsibilities
The Opportunity
The Network Engineer is responsible for the ongoing development of Network health and capability assessments in line with future business needs and growth. The Network Optimization Team is responsible for providing proactive insight and making strategic recommendations for Network enhancements; ranging from bandwidth and equipment upgrades, through to design changes in partnership with the Network Architecture operations and business application teams. Furthermore, central to this role will be partnering with application and business leads on defining strategic recommendations and roadmaps in line with Application and business strategies.
The ideal candidate will have deep experience of networking technologies, such as routing, switching and wireless networking. They must also have a background in application performance management, service delivery and strategic planning.
The Network Engineer will be a member of the Global Infrastructure Architecture & Engineering organization, this resource will serve as a subject matter expert in the area of Network Architecture and Engineering. The resource will provide thought leadership, provide technical oversight, and ensure that network solutions meet PepsiCo requirements.
Your Impact.
As Network Engineer your scope would consist of:
· Develop and maintain a three-year plan for the Network Optimization Team
· Provide network optimization and capability needs for strategic business and budget planning
· Develop heat-maps and optimization plans for data center networks, campus networks and all WAN, LAN and WLAN connectivity
· Monitor and analyze statistical data to develop improvement plans for network and application performance
· Provide and effective network capacity planning framework in partnership with Capacity Management
· Partner with Application teams to drive standards for optimal network performance
· Provide tier 3 operational support for critical business issues that require deep network performance analysis
· Produce architecture and engineering specifications and design documents
· Lead the Engineering direction and design issues as well as influence peers, cross-functional partners,
· Effectively presenting facts and recommendations in oral and written form
Qualifications
Who Are We Looking For?
1. Education:
· Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, or related qualification
2. Experience:
· In depth experience and knowledge of Networking technologies is required.
· Minimum 8 years of working in a Computer Network / Telecommunications role
· CISCO certification desirable
· Strong management skills with the ability to develop teams and cultivate talent
· Experience of working in a multi-cultural, virtual team across geographical regions
· Ability to coordinate and direct activities across multiple teams
· Commercial and business experience an advantage
· Service and Operations Management experience
· Excellence in execution through proper prioritization of projects and initiatives
· Excellent customer focus and engagement skills
· Ability to develop solutions within a complex operational environment
· Strong project management skills and experience of coordinating of multiple, simultaneous complex tasks
3. Competencies:
· Develop an advanced understanding of the various types of network architectures and how they’re interconnected
· Ensure the features, benefits, and architectural impact of technology are understood and valued
· Assist in developing the business cases for architectural solutions
· Position the appropriate IT services for customers to consider when deploying a technology solution
· Lead technical discussions, driving clarity of complex issues/requirements to build robust solutions
· Develop advanced understanding of technological capabilities
· Effectively highlight IT technological advantages and disadvantages from the customer’s perspective
· Identify technical win strategies from a business and technology perspective
