PepsiCo Beverages North America is seeking a Labor Director - Negotiator.  The primary focus of role is negotiating labor contracts throughout the United States focused on language pertaining to the transformation project. This role reports directly to the Vice President of Labor Relations. The Labor Director - Negotiator acts as chief negotiator representing the company in collective bargaining involving multiple contracts throughout the country and will be responsible for negotiating multiple contracts at one time. 

The Labor Director - Negotiator is responsible for achieving the transformation project’s labor objectives. This position requires a high level of influence and persuasion with the Divisions, as well as market unit leadership. The successful candidate will be responsible for establishing working, professional relationships with local and national union leaders to create alignment, resolve issues, achieve the Company’s objectives in relation to the transformation project, and conclude the bargaining process amicably.

Responsibilities

·  Developing and implementing bargaining strategy
·  Determining issues and positions
·  Drafting contract proposals and contract language
·  Understanding benefits plans and programs, preparation and/or review of compensation and financial analyses
·  Negotiating mid-term agreements
·  Interpreting labor contracts
·  Handling or assisting with grievances and arbitrations relating to the transformation project
·  Advising and coordinating with sector and field HR staff on labor and employee relations initiatives and issues relating to the transformation project

Compensation & Benefits:

·  The expected compensation range for this position is between $113,300 - $226,600 based on a full-time schedule.
·  Location, confirmed job-related skills and experience will be considered in setting actual starting salary.
·  Bonus based on performance and eligibility; target payout is 25% of annual salary paid out annually.
·  and an additional target payout of 10% of annual salary is paid out over 3 years following the end of the performance period.
·  Long term incentive equity may be awarded based on eligibility and performance.
·  Paid time off subject to eligibility, including paid parental leave, vacation, sick, and bereavement.

Qualifications

·  Knowledge of labor law, including the National Labor Relations Act (NLRA), and labor relations principles, practices, procedures, strategies, and trends including those relating to the duty to bargain in good faith, contract negotiation, contract interpretation, union organizing, and dispute resolution, such that the person in position is considered a Subject Matter Expert.
·  Extensive knowledge of the principles, practices, and procedures of human resources administration as applied to labor relations’ issues/problems.
·  Thorough knowledge of local, state, and federal laws, regulations, administrative rules, and guidelines pertaining to labor relations/benefits administration/employment law including the Fair Labor Standards Act.
·  Knowledge of the principles, practices, and trends in benefits administration.
·  Knowledge of grievance and interest arbitration hearing procedures and principles in a contested case environment.
·  Excellent oral and written communication skills.
·  Excellent public speaking and presentation skills.
·  Ability to develop, draft, interpret, and administer contract provisions that are both compliant with the NLRA and help to achieve the company’s business objectives.
·  Ability to effectively represent the company during bargaining sessions, grievance sessions, arbitration, and administrative proceedings.
·  Ability to analyze facts and make sound decisions based on evidence presented and applicable contract laws, rules, and precedents.
·  Demonstrated ability to resolve conflict through persuasion, influence, and negotiation.
·  Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with management executives, department heads, mid- and lower-level management, bargaining unit representatives, employees, and representatives from community/regulatory agencies.
·  Ability to influence the work of others.
·  Due to the national scope of this position extensive travel is required, the timing and duration of which is dependent on negotiation needs and the course negotiations take.  Travel estimate is 60% overall.
