Job description

Overview

The Cloud Platform Enablement team is part of PepsiCo’s Cloud Acceleration and Value Office (CAVO) and will be supporting all “cloud first” projects that come in via Clarity from all organizations (Sector CIOs, CTO, S&T, Enterprise Systems).  These are projects that are ‘net new’ and therefore were not built within the data centers first (no cloud migration required).  They may leverage Infrastructure-as-a-Service (IaaS) offerings, or Platform-as-Service (PaaS) offerings.  This is a new role being created due to new responsibilities that these projects require to enable provisioning directly in the cloud, either in Azure or AWS or GCP in the future.  As these are ‘cloud first’ projects, they require support for both PepsiCo employees as part of the project team, and 3rd party vendors to provide a ‘cloud concierge’ type of service.  This would be shepherding these projects through various IT processes such as Information Security reviews, engaging with Cloud Solution Architects to design / architect a solution, seeking approval for that architecture with the Cloud Architecture / Engineering group or Enterprise Architecture steering committee, bringing together application team members and the partner team members to assess what cloud services will be required, and what the plan would be for building those.  In any cloud, there are various services that can be used to solve any business problem.  The role of this ‘cloud concierge’ is to help sift through the options and select the cloud services that are the most robust and cost effective for the business project at hand, without overengineering a solution and increasing its cost.

This new role will not only lead the implementation of the services, but also develop the support model and ensure a smoot transition to the sustain teams who will be providing ongoing support.  This requires validation of cost for the proposed implementation, confirmation of high availability for the solution, validation of disaster recovery requirements / pattern choice, testing of implementation and high availability and disaster recovery (if required), as well as various reviews with Information Security to ensure that PepsiCo data is secured properly, based on data classification.   This role will drive new cloud projects globally but will be located in Mexico to coincide with Central time zone (other similar roles will be located in other time zones).  This role will also have accountability to ensure that we are reporting accurately on SLAs and KPIs for each project, regarding hosting as well as project implementation.

Responsibilities

This role will help to lead the cloud platform enablement efforts globally, in partnership with other team members.  Each project will have their own implementation team to ensure that we have sufficient staff to implement the services required in a cost effective and secure manner.

·  Work with all Project team members and process owners on process business requirements, architecture and design, implementation, functional and performance testing, high availability design and testing, disaster recovery design and testing, cost estimates, approvals, various stage gates within our PLM, as well as implementation, hypercare, and transition to sustain
·  Work with other teams such as:

o   Cloud Onboarding Team to ensure project is onboarded into proper landing zone within the cloud

o   Cloud Architecture and Engineering team to validate architectural patterns

o   Cloud Solution Architecture to architect / design solution options, and recommendations for best fit

o   Cloud Financial Management to capture estimated costs and tagging strategy

·  Work with 3rd party vendors engaged in implementation efforts for requirements, testing, and usage of the automation
·  Assess any differences in recommendations for Platform as a Service (PaaS), Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) or Software as a Service (SaaS), as well as nuances for Azure and AWS that may require different processes.
·  Reaffirm recommended hosting model to ensure the implementation of the new solutions in the cloud will have a cost-effective support model and hosting model for all services.
·  Review side by side comparisons of labor costs, hosting / hardware costs, software licenses, shared services costs, Operating System / database versions and patch levels, along with proposed design and implementation method as well as optimization required to drive alignment across various teams
·  Drive project implementation recommendations to support the multiyear cloud transformation journey  which would include operationalizing the required technology in a hybrid multi-cloud environment.
