Overview

Job Title: Data Management & Ops. Manager

Responsibilities

Duties: Oversee PepsiCo's data product build and operations. Drive a strong vision for how data engineering can proactively create a positive impact on PepsiCo’s business operations while working in a hybrid environment with in-house, on-premises data sources as well as cloud and remote systems. Duties include: Collaborating with various teams, stakeholders, and architects at the company to develop high-performance, maintainable, and scalable data products using big data technologies like Hadoop, SQL Data Warehouse, EMR, Spark, DataBricks, Snowflake, and Azure Synapse, while also developing interface apps and connectors for integrations with different systems. Establishing a global operating rhythm for always-on access to high-quality data and centralizing and standardizing data across the enterprise for business, data science, and other stakeholders. Designing extensible data models and patterns to support future use cases with minimal rework, incorporating key dimensions such as security, regulatory rules, consumer privacy, and identity foundations. Driving collaborative reviews of design, code, data, and security features, while assisting with data planning, sourcing, collection, profiling, and transformation, and helping create POCs on the consumption layer using languages like Java, JavaScript, and Python. Developing cloud-centric, repeatable data patterns for data management and cleansing, and partnering with data science teams to standardize unstructured data classification for data discovery and action. Participating in enterprise data governance processes at the company to define and implement data models across master, transaction, and informational data, ensuring alignment with business objectives and maximizing reuse. Increasing data awareness within the company, democratizing access to data across the organization, ensuring the effectiveness of databases through testing before release for business use, and supporting both batch and real-time data products and platforms.

 

Telecommuting permitted (30%): work may be performed within the normal commuting distance from the PepsiCo, Inc. office in Plano, Texas.

Qualifications

Job Requirements: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Systems Architecture, or related field and eleven (11) years of experience in job offered or related role in technology. Must have six (6) years of experience with: hands-on software development, data engineering, and systems architecture. Must have five (5) years of experience with: DevOps, building CICD flows using like ADO pipelines or Jenkins; building custom reporting tools with UI technologies like Jquery, Javascript, React JS, or Angular JS. Must have four (4) years of experience with: Data Lake Infrastructure, Data Warehousing, and Data Analytics tools; Developing enterprise data models; Cloud data engineering experience in at least one cloud (Azure, AWS, or GCP); and at least one data modeling tool (e.g. ER/Studio, Erwin); integration of multi-cloud services with on-premises technologies; data modeling, data warehousing, and building high-volume ETL/ELT pipelines; data profiling and data quality tools like Apache Griffin, Deequ, or Great Expectations; building/operating highly available, distributed systems of data extraction, ingestion, and processing of large data sets; at least one MPP database technology such as Redshift, Synapse or SnowFlake; running and scaling applications on the cloud infrastructure and containerized services like Kubernetes; version control systems Github and deployment & CI tools; working knowledge of agile development, including DevOps and DataOps concepts; familiarity with business intelligence tools (such as PowerBI). Must have two (2) years of experience with: reporting tools like PowerBi, Cognos report, or customer reporting tools.

 

10% international travel is required.

Salary: $187,907 - $245,000 / year
