Compute Engineering and Automation Engineer

Overview

This role is a compute infrastructure automation engineer that will primarily be responsible for developing and implementing automation capabilities across the compute domain.  In addition, this role will support compute domain SME’s with automation expertise to help accelerate the deployment and adoption of new compute capabilities.

Responsibilities

·  Analyze existing IT compute processes and identify potential automation opportunities to improve efficiency and reduce manual efforts.
·  Design, develop, and implement automation workflows using scripting languages (e.g., Python, PowerShell) and automation tool, specifically Ansible.
·  Maintain compute automation adding enhancement to ensure reliability, performance, and security.
·  Collaborate with compute teams and partners to understand automation needs and provide tailored solutions.
·  Provide technical support and guidance to internal teams during automation implementations.
·  Investigate and resolve automation-related issues to minimize disruptions to operations and misconfigurations.
·  Proactively identify areas for further automation, process improvements, and optimization.
·  Integrate automation solutions with existing IT systems, applications, and infrastructure.
·  Understand and implement enterprise cloud foundation strategy to provide reliable, secure and scalable cloud foundation and infrastructure.
·  Develop, deploy, and maintain Ansible playbooks, PowerShell scripts, Terraform and ARM templates.
Qualifications

Years of Experience

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.

• 8+  years of IT infrastructure operations and\\or engineering experience.

TechSkills

• Azure native networking and platform services experience and knowledge of large and complex global cloud foundation and infrastructure

• Proven experience as an IT Automation Specialist or similar role, with a strong background in scripting and automation tools.

• Proficiency in scripting languages such as Python, PowerShell, Shell, or others.

• Familiarity with automation frameworks and configuration management tools like Ansible, Puppet, or Chef.

• Knowledge of DevOps principles and practices, including CI/CD pipelines.

• Foundational understanding of compute technologies:  virtualization, storage, databases, and backup and recovery.

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with an ability to troubleshoot complex technical issues.

• Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with cross-functional teams.

• Ability to adapt to evolving technologies and continuously expand automation skillsets.

• Relevant certifications (e.g., Certified Automation Professional) are a plus.

• Windows and Linux OS platforms

• Architecture design and engineering practices, technology standards and patterns

• Scope, plan, design and implement complex infrastructure solutions.

• Linux (Redhat, SUSE) and Windows Server 2016+

• Azure DevOps, GitHub, Github flows.
