Overview
· GBS Digital Factory is the digital transformation engine for PepsiCo that sits within the Global Business Services (GBS) organization. It focuses on the re-imagination and digitization of capabilities, processes, services, and reporting for the Enterprise through the design, development, and deployment of scalable digital products and solutions. GBS Digital Factory works with business, sectors, markets, and regions, leveraging a core set of integrated technologies, such as AI, ML, RPA, Conversational AI.
· As a Data Engineer, you will be responsible for ingesting and transforming data across multiple source systems that is needed for consumption for various automations / digital products or reporting. You will play a pivotal role in digital product development by enabling the usability and access to data, ultimately facilitating business’ ability to make critical business decisions. You will be working in close collaboration with Product Designers, Developers, and other Engineers as needed
Responsibilities
· Execute development of software, processes and codes that format, tag, process, store, and service data to support large scale, efficient data pipelines and optimize data availability
· Consult and collaborate with Data Scientists, Machine Learning Engineers, and BI Engineers to identify data transformation and data quality needs
· Inventory and explore available data sources, including third-party data, clean and wrangle data from multiple sources into formats that can be efficiently used and provide appropriate access to GBS Digital Factory developer and engineers
· Execute support of day-to-day ETL processes, maintain, troubleshoot, and support existing data workflow processes, delivering fixes and optimizations where appropriate
· Execute monitoring of data hygiene standards while ingesting and transforming data across systems
· Execute data quality and governance standards, ensure new and existing data models are consistent with established data privacy and confidentiality policies
· Consult and collaborate with Data Scientists, Machine Learning Engineers, and Visualization / BI Engineers in the transformation and application of data for digital products, including the building of algorithms and real-time analytics solutions
· Inform oneself and stay knowledgeable on best practices, key trends, and emerging technologies in the data engineering field
Qualifications
· 6-7 years overall experience and 2+ years of hands-on experience with data mining and data transformations across multiple source systems
· Degree in Computer Science, Engineering or related field
· Experience with coding languages (e.g., Java, Python) and database querying languages (e.g., SQL)
· Extensive knowledge of database design, data integration, and data modeling
· Knowledge of Big Data technologies (e.g., Spark, Hadoop)
· Experience with agile development methodology (i.e., Safe Agile)
· Experience with cloud technologies (e.g., Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud, Amazon Web Services, and cloud-specific PaaS and SaaS solutions)
· Technical knowledge and practical experience with AI / ML technologies
· Exposure to digital product development preferred
· Strong and proactive problem-solver
· Highly collaborative and excels in cross-functional teams
· Able to manage multiple projects and report simultaneously across different stakeholders in a fast-paced environment
· Possesses excellent verbal and written communication skills with ability to communicate complex technology solutions to senior leadership
