Job Purpose/Role
We are seeking a tax specialist to support our fast-growing Private Markets business, focusing on transactions and international tax matters. Working alongside our investment tax team, you will cover tax aspects of investments in direct and indirect debt, private equity, and infrastructure funds. This includes primary and secondary fund transactions as well as co-investments. You will operate in a dynamic global deal environment with diverse investors and gain exposure to a rapidly evolving business area.
What You Will Do
- Act as subject matter expert on tax matters for investments, including due diligence, structuring, and documentation, in collaboration with legal and investment teams.
- Support financial modelling to incorporate tax effects relevant to investments.
- Prepare and negotiate legal documentation (e.g., side letters and LPAs), considering client-specific requirements.
- Assist in preparing investment proposals for approval by investment committees.
- Provide tax advice on restructurings and client-led transfers of fund participations.
- Respond to tax-related client queries on investments.
- Manage withholding tax matters, including exemption applications across jurisdictions.
- Develop a framework for tax support in direct lending activities.
- Coordinate with tax product and compliance teams to ensure seamless information flow.
- Monitor changes in local and international tax laws affecting investments.
- Design, implement, and maintain tax-related processes for investments.
- Manage domestic and international external tax advisors.
- Advise on portfolio-wide tax projects.
What you bring
- Qualified tax advisor or lawyer with an above-average degree.
- Minimum 6 years of relevant experience in corporate and international tax law, ideally with a focus on fund and investment-related topics; significantly more for the Senior Manager role.
- Strong analytical skills and ability to work cross-functionally, manage priorities, and engage effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
- Proactive mindset with high initiative, commitment, and strong team orientation.
- Excellent command of English and German.
