Join us now as Investment Risk Manager(f/m/d) in Munich. 

We are currently seeking an Investment Risk Manager (f/m/d) to join our Market Risk team within the Investment Risk Management function, AllianzGI’ s independent control unit responsible for overseeing investment risks across the firm.

In this role, you will contribute to the monitoring and management of market risks such as Value-at-Risk, leverage, back testing, and stress testing, thereby helping to further strengthen the impact and visibility of the Risk Management function within AllianzGI.

You will collaborate with a broad range of stakeholders across all levels of the organization, providing insightful risk analysis, constructive challenge and independent risk oversight.

What you do

•    Monitor, analyze, and report market risk metrics for investment funds, with a focus on Value-at-Risk, leverage, sensitivities, and stress tests.
•    Contribute to the regular risk monitoring processes, ensuring timely identification and escalation of anomalies or limit breaches.
•    Support discussions with key stakeholders such as Portfolio Management, Products, Client Account Management, and other control functions.
•    Support the Head of Market Risk in delivering the MaRisk risk service for German banking clients, including data preparation, reporting, and documentation.
•    Develop and maintain automated, efficient Python-based solutions for recurring risk processes, analytics, and quality checks.
•    Conduct ad-hoc analyses on market movements, exposures, or client requests, providing clear and concise insights.
•    Support the enhancement and documentation of the risk framework, methodologies, and internal procedures.
•    Collaborate with other risk teams to ensure data quality, process stability, and regulatory alignment.

What you bring

Experience & knowledge

•    Academic background or initial exposure to finance, economics, mathematics, or a related field.
•    Strong interest in market risk management (Value-at-Risk, Backtesting, Stress Testing) and the functioning of financial markets.
•    Basic understanding of the asset management industry and willingness to further build this knowledge.
•    Familiarity with key regulatory concepts relevant to risk management (e.g., AIFMD, UCITS) is an asset.
•    First experience in MaRisk reporting is a strong asset.
•    Curiosity for technical and analytical work. Initial exposure to data analysis, programming (e.g. Python) or risk tools.

Skills

•    Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Finance, Economics, Mathematics, Engineering, or a related quantitative field.
•    Strong analytical mindset with the ability to work accurately and solve problems independently.
•    Proven Python skills for data analysis and automation. Experience with Excel and general MS Office tools (Word, PowerPoint) is required.
•    Strong interpersonal and communication skills to collaborate effectively within an international and interdisciplinary team environment.
•    Good organizational abilities, reliability and a structured working style.
•    Fluency in German and English is required.
•    Basic knowledge of AI technologies, principles, and their practical use
