In Zwolle, The Netherlands, we have a large, state-of-the-art production site with 400+ Employees where both powder and liquid finished product is produced. For this ever developing and strongly growing production site, we are looking for a Site Controller
About the job
The Site Controller is part of the Site Leadership Team (SLT) and works closely together with the Site Director. He or she provides leadership in the design, maintenance and evaluation of all financial activities for the plant in accordance with established plant, division and corporate policies.

Objective of the position:
Provides guidance in setting strategic direction and designing business plans to achieve the long-term mission of the plant. Partner with the business to ensure financial and business commitments are delivered.
Primary function / primary goals / objectives:
- The Site Controller is responsible for the financial leadership in a plant with approx. 500 employees. The position's functional responsibilities influence Manufacturing, Quality Assurance, Engineering and Materials Management through budget decisions, financial training, financial recommendations and general business guidance.
- The position is the financial point of contact with local government, internal/external auditors, local counsel, certain suppliers and certain regulatory bodies (tax, customs).
- Interacts with the Global & International Controllers (functional reporting) and the Divisional Vice President of International Operations through Root Cause Analysis, presentations of financial plans/analyses/strategies and is responsible for representing the plant in these discussions.
- In conjunction with the Site Director, sets appropriate financial direction ensuring the proper reflection of financials results and forecasts.
- Coordinate, consolidate and generally manage the development plans for the plant including standards, rLBE's and RCE's.
- Prepares annual cost standards for Abbott Nutrition products at the plant, including existing and new products.
- Working in conjunction with the Plant and Operations management, develop and implement financial and operational measurement tools focusing on productivity, customer service improvements and root cause analysis.
- Ensure adequate financial and system controls are established and maintained consistent with Abbott policies and procedures as well as generally accepted accounting principles
- Develop accurate and consistent financial data and present such data in a clear and concise manner thereby enhancing the management decision making process
- Ensure protection and proper use of company assets
- Promote and maintain compliance with Abbott policies and procedures and external requirements
- Provide all financial planning, analysis and accounting to achieve strategic and day-to-day business objectives
Major Responsibilities:
- The major duties and responsibilities are to provide a system of control to safeguard assets, assure the accuracy and reliability of financial data, promote operational efficiency and assure adherence to established division and corporate policies and procedures. Monitor maintenance of sound financial procedures and systems in the following areas:
- Financial Planning & Analysis
- Product Standard Costing
- Production/Inventory Control Data
- Cost/Inventory Accounting
- Capital/RCE Investment Analysis and Control
- Fixed Asset Control
- Interfaces with various Plant, Division and Corporate Accounting Systems
- Ensure that the necessary systems and procedures are in place and operational to control, facilitate, evaluate and provide justification for the disbursement of funds
- Maximize the use of computer systems to provide management with reliable and timely data necessary for responsible business decisions in the areas of cost, quality, manpower planning, inventory etc.
- Responsible for development, evaluation, presentation and control of the plant's annual operating Plans, rLBE's, monthly financial updates and development of financial analyses related to capital planning
- Develop and maintain plant cost accounting systems to achieve development of product cost standards, analyzing cost trends and providing related financial information and analysis
- As a member of the Plant Managers staff, leads the financial aspects of the plant's strategic planning process
- Prepare and present monthly reporting details of the operation in such a form as to provide the necessary information for management to make effective decisions
- Responsible for the timely, accurate reporting and analysis of cost data to operating management on a prescribed schedule
- Ensure good working relationship with CFS & SSO is developed and maintained to allow FP&A focus on business partnership
- Ensure good working relationship is maintained between site and statutory or government bodies as well as auditors
- Keep abreast of all changes in the local environment that could affect the Financial performance of Zwolle
- Provide all Information required by Abbott treasury to ensure Cash Flow liquidity
- Facilitate efforts in driving cost control, efficiencies and improvement initiatives
- Endeavour to ensure that internal checks necessary to protect the Company's property are in operation
- Ensure that staff in the Finance department are managed in accordance with personnel policies and that they are developed and trained with the organization
- Provide financial guidance for all functional support groups to ensure financials commitments are delivered.
- Maintain a close working relationship with other International Nutritional Plants
Financial planning
- Gathering information to prepare and consolidate budgets.
- Support site management in the preparation and adjustment of the annual Plan and LBEs, within the applicable guidelines and quality standards.
- Coordinate and guide the budgeting process for your own area of attention.
- Analyze report results and translate them into advices.
- Pro-actively identify and / or record deviations in accordance with the applicable guidelines, procedures and formats
Communication/reporting
- Inform management about (expected) variances to financial targets, translate them into various scenarios of consequences and propose and encourage corrective actions.
- Prepare financial analyses and translate these into advices.
- Fulfill own part in the analyzing and reporting of weekly, monthly, quarterly, annual results.
- Checks for timely execution of activities.
Planning & Control
- Focus on monitoring Planning & Control processes and activities, as well as advising through standard analyzes, reports and investment requests.
- Proposes alternative cost price scenarios
- Maintaining the standard cost price system and determining the allocation of costs (overhead).
- Monitor the movements in Sox and Inventory accounting
Knowledge, skills and experience:
- Bachelor of Accounting / Business Studies or equivalent
- Member of a professional accounting body (e.g. CPA, CIMA,ACCA) or their equivalent in the region
- Excellent decision making, and problem-solving skills are essential for his role
- Ability to communicate with all levels of staff from users to managers
- Must be organized, analytical, able to multi-task and work under pressure of tight deadlines
- Fluent in Dutch and English language (verbally as well as in writing)
