Abbott Established Pharmaceutical Division (EPD) is looking for an

Controller - Global Plants Manufacturing Operations

at the EPD Headquarter in Basel - Allschwil.

In this role you provide financial control and leadership to the Global Products Manufacturing Operations. This area has 4 separate manufacturing sites (Weesp and Olst in The Netherlands, Neustadt in Germany and Victoriaville in Canada). As the Area Controller in conjunction with the other Operations Management members, you formulate, organize and implement the strategic plans, operating policies and management controls required to achieve business objectives and effective commitment of financial resources for Abbott EPD`s Global Manufacturing Plants. You develop plans for improved financial and operating systems to meet requirements of the business. Additionally, engage with applicable Area and Affiliate IFO Finance Directors to assure appropriate finance organization structure for supporting the plants in this Area and assure appropriate development of the plant finance staffs

Main Responsibilities

• Participate as a member of the staff of the Director GPMO, EPD, providing financial guidance and analysis for short-term and long-term strategies for the region.
• In conjunction with the Plant Finance teams, assure development of standard costs and other cost analyses for existing and new products in compliance with local, International and Corporate policies. Ensure that there is involvement with the Commercial groups, Plants, Technical support, Materials Management and Project Management as required to provide analysis for evaluation of alternatives and effective decision-making.
• Ensure plant finance systems and staff comply with all local, International and Corporate policies and procedures required for operation and all financial reporting is completed in accurate and timely manner.
• Provide support and guidance to Plant Finance and any other manufacturing operations functions in carrying out their responsibilities and to ensure consistency and accuracy of plant financial records and reports and effectiveness of plant operating systems.
• Lead the preparation, review and analysis of the annual profit plan and quarterly Rolling LBEs for the Area in conjunction with the plants, Global Manufacturing finance staff, Area Manufacturing Director, DVP Operations EPD and other members of the Established Pharmaceutical Operations (EPO) team.
• Participate in the development, review and presentation of all financial analyses supporting the Area and EPD manufacturing strategies and sourcing decisions as well as in response to EPD commercial inquires. Ensure proper reporting and planning procedures are employed in these analyses to assure proper information for management decision-making. Provide guidance and counsel to the Area management team on key strategic and operational decisions
• Participate in the development, review and presentation of key Area capital expenditures. Ensure proper reporting and planning procedures are employed to assure proper information for management decision-making.
• As necessary, involve Corporate Tax and Transfer Pricing personnel on any initiatives and/or strategies that may impact local affiliate profits, taxes, local import/export duties and/or corporate taxes.
• In conjunction with the respective International Finance Operations (IFO) Directors, ensure that standard product cost information for plants remain proprietary and that usage of standard product cost data outside of EPO is controlled and monitored.
• Participate in plant and EPO headquarters finance resource development for EPO Controllership including: exempt hires, promotion/transfers, organizational assessments, succession planning, and development of high potential individuals.
• Supervision and mentoring of direct and international indirect staff.

Your profile

• Bachelor's Degree Business, (Accounting/Finance concentration), CPA and/or MBA Preferred

• Accountancy qualification (ACA, ACCA or CIMA) an advantage
• 10+ Years of total Accounting/Finance Experience, including 5 years of Supervisory experience 2+ years of Cost Accounting/Operations Accounting Project management experience within an Pharma Manufacturing Environment
• Extensive Understanding of International Accounting Policy and Reporting Requirements and CFMs.
• Experience working within a multinational environment preferable
• Strong communication, presentation and teamwork skills
