The Opportunity
This position works out of our Lake Bluff, IL or Willis Tower location in the PA Public Affairs division.
Abbott is seeking a full-time communications specialist to support social media employee advocacy program and other communications and engagement efforts for Abbott’s global employees.
The Content Specialist must be a strong communicator – able to incorporate the brand story and communications strategy into engaging and impactful social content, including text, imagery and video. This role requires understanding of social media best practices, community management and social listening, metrics and insights, and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
This role reports to the Employee Communications team, a group within the Company’s global marketing and external affairs team. It will also collaborate with the Content (social media) team.
What You’ll Work On
· Manage and update editorial calendar
· Identify/organize content to be uploaded
· Manage advocacy platforms where the content is shared to employees
· Develop creative copy and curates imagery to go along with posts
· Ensures strategic content cadence is executed
· Review and send user-submitted content for approval following the established protocol
· Manage intake of user (employees’) questions and inquiries, escalating relevant inquiries
· Analyze and report on metrics
· Occasional travel, up to weekly visits to other Abbott sites in the Chicagoland area
Required Qualifications
· Bachelor’s degree (preferred in Marketing, Communications, Digital or Public Relations, or related field).
· 2+ years of experience in Digital/Social media Marketing, Communications or Public Relations
· Excellent writing skills, with an eye for proofreading and grammar
· Passionate about Abbott’s mission and interest in working with a globally diverse workforce

The base pay for this position is
$57,300.00 – $114,700.00
In specific locations, the pay range may vary from the range posted.
