Ingénieur Estimation F/H - Lyon

About Technip Energies :
Technip Energies is a leading engineering and technology company serving the energy transition, with leading positions in Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG), hydrogen and ethylene and a strong presence in the growing markets of blue and green hydrogen, sustainable chemistry and CO2 management. The company benefits from its solid project delivery model, supported by an extensive offering of technologies, products and services.  With a presence in 34 countries, our 15,000 employees are fully committed to bringing our customers' innovative projects to life, pushing the boundaries of what's possible to accelerate the energy transition to a better future.
We offer you not only an opportunity, but also an inspiring experience in a truly international environment where you team up to push back boundaries through the innovation, creativity and team spirit expressed by our people.
About Technip Lyon:
Within the TECHNIP Energies universe, the Lyon center is referenced as the Group's center of expertise in the field of Polyolefins. Specialized in Petrochemicals, Chemicals, Green Chemistry and Life Sciences, it also supports the development of innovative technologies in fields such as biotechnologies and bio-sourced synthesis products and hydrocarbons. As you can see, this center of over 500 people caters for a wide range of engineering projects of varying sizes (over €400 million for some projects), with a focus on design projects that are very far upstream and technically very rich for our engineers.
About the job:
As an estimating engineer, you will report functionally to the manager of this department and operationally to the managers of the projects or proposals to which you will be assigned.
You will be responsible for estimating the capital costs of projects (CAPEX), either on behalf of clients in upstream study phases (feasibility / preliminary projects), or on behalf of Technip Energies in the context of turnkey proposals whose amounts are financially binding on the Group.
When estimating CAPEX, you can either work completely independently or be placed under the authority of a more experienced lead estimator.
Your main activities will be :

- Define, in liaison with the proposal manager (or project manager), the technical support to be obtained from the design departments to help you estimate costs.
- Determine the consultations to be launched (supply of equipment, materials, works contracts, services)
- Estimate and analyze the various price components of the project (studies, supplies, construction, start-up, financial costs) corresponding to technical, economic and contractual conditions.
- Consolidate all prices to establish the total price sheet up to the estimated selling price.
- Estimate the risks associated with the various price components and realization assumptions.
- Present price sheets to sales managers and the plant manager at price validation meetings (CAPEX for order and on behalf of the client, or proposals involving Technip Energies).
Depending on the type of proposal, you may also be responsible, under the direction of the proposal managers, for establishing prices for Technip Energies services, particularly for the Lyon site.
These estimates of investment costs or service costs are made in close collaboration with the process, purchasing and engineering teams.
About you :

Trained as a general engineer or chemical engineer, you have 2 to 5 years' experience in estimating/quoting in the refining, petrochemical, chemical/pharmaceutical or industrial sectors. Previous experience in an engineering company or in piping or civil engineering is a plus.

You would like to gain initial experience in engineering, with the possibility of taking an interest in many different disciplines (processes, equipment, piping, civil engineering, electricity, instrumentation, purchasing, works contracts, finance).
You like to take part in challenges to win contracts, as you'll be heavily involved in the proposal or pre-project phases and will often liaise with sales engineers.

You have good interpersonal skills, as you will also be in contact with customers whom you will need to convince of the accuracy of your estimates.

The position is based in Lyon but you must be mobile for short-term assignments.
English is essential.

Your future at Technip Energies:
This cross-functional position will enable you to move naturally into project management, proposal management, purchasing or construction contract management.
It's a great way to enter the world of engineering.
