Introduction to the Job

This position sits within the Finance Department (General Ledger Team) in Westhill, Aberdeenshire. The GL Vessel Accountant will ultimately report to the GL Manager but also with reporting lines and day to day interaction with the TMOS Vessel Accountants, TMOS Onshore Pools Department and GL Team.

Job description
The Accountant will be responsible for applying accounting principles and ensuring approporiate accounting control procedures are followed.
·  Regular communication at both month and quarter end with TMOS Accountants and B&C department
·  Monthly preparation and upload of revenue and cost journals into PA and GL
·  Maintain and update revenue and cost accruals/prepayments
·  Preparation of journal log and ensuring a timely sign off
·  Monthly insurance prepayment and accrual accounting entries for the vessels
·  Complete monthly Marine Projects accounting entries
·  Prepare and issue monthly welfare fund account statements to the fleet
·  Hold quarterly review meeting with marine project budget holders and discuss results
·  Creation of marine project as and when required
·  Complete onshore contractors / impats quarterly accounts for both TMOS onshore and Budget & Control department
·  Preparation of journals for data clean-up of the relevant balance sheet accounts
·  Quarterly Sch C posting for both debtors & creditors
·  Monthly PA – GL reconciliations for TMOS areas of responsibility to ensure the two ledgers are aligned
·  Preparation of quarterly group reporting accounts for several “small” entities and update into Hyperion Financial Planning – management of all aspects of these entities; accounts preparation, HFM input, intercompany matching, supplementary appendices, tidy up entries/payment reqs to clear interco balances, flux reviews and commentary, yearend stat accounts and engagement with auditors on these entities
·  Responsible for the preparation of the balance sheet reconciliations for the main accounts for the vessel accountants and onshore pools accountants
·  Main point of contact in the GL Team for Vessel Accountants and TMOS onshore pools Accountants
·  Attend Monthly / Quarterly Actuals Review for the vessels and onshore pools and be accountable for areas of responsibility
·  Prepare and attend monthly balance sheet reviews with the Vessel Accountants and TMOS onshore pools Accountants
·  Organise Monthly Balance Sheet Reconciliations sign-off for areas of responsibility
·  Support GL and Consolidation Manager and Financial Accountant (TMOS) in achieving wider Finance Department objectives including involvement in ad hoc tasks when required.
·  Preparation of statutory accounts for “small” entities under your remit
·  Engagement with auditors on “small” entities are responsible for
·  Assist with SOX internal control testing
·  Complete monthly, quarterly & annually the office for national statistics questionnaires
