Job description

The Credit Controller role is based within Invoice Finance Department.

The role of the Credit Controller is to provide an excellent sales ledger management service to our Clients by handling all debt collection activity and minimising the risks of losses for our Clients and for HSBC Invoice Finance through accurate use of various risk tools and through attention to detail when managing ledgers.

Your responsibilities will include:
·  Achieve a high standard of credit control by effectively collecting outstanding debts for each Client in line with their requirements
·  Efficiently manage your own portfolio of Clients by resolving queries and concerns on overdue invoices, payment facilities, funding and cash flow, whilst maintaining reconciled ledgers
·  Build effective relationships with Clients via the telephone, and meetings where appropriate, developing an understanding of the clients business through communication with the Client and the Invoice Finance Manager
·  Must be a team player willing to assist and provide help for colleagues when necessary whilst working on your own initiative and making clear decisions
·  Ensure that the Client is at the heart of everything we do both personally and as an organization by driving a client-centric culture
·  Manage delivery of high quality service to clients, timely resolution for service quality issues, and implementation of preventative measures to protect service levels
·  Successfully deliver Standard Customer Service (CS) experience to Global Trade and Receivables Finance (GTRF) Clients
·  Set the highest professional standards personally and for the team
·  Foster a strong, collaborative culture and positive team dynamics consistent with Group Values
·  Build and maintain good working relationships with Transaction Services, Business Development, Global Service Delivery (GSD), Commercial Banking (CMB), Global Banking and Markets (GBM) and other strategic units and operate in an open and transparent way being fully accountable for supporting business
·  Ensure development activities are a core priority and take reasonable time for learning and development activities

Desired profile

The ideal candidate for this role will have:
·  Previous experience of delivering an excellent customer service
·  An open, flexible and supportive approach to change and innovation
·  Both spoken and written communication skills with experience of sharing information effectively, in a clear, concise and professional manner
·  Worked collaboratively with other colleagues, supporting them when possible
·  Experience of making timely and rational decisions, based on relevant information and experience
·  Experience of personally complying with business processes, rules and regulations
·  Experience of building effective customer relationships which create customer advocacy

The base location for this role is Birmingham.
