Job Description Summary

The activities of this role contributes to the design and development of Aerospace engine products through the entire lifecycle process, provides solutions that meet program and technical requirements for parts and systems for components made of composites and metallic conventional manufacturing processes.
Activities related to Product definition requires collaboration with cross-functional teams and good integration skills to produce Product Definition data aligned with business and industry requirements.
Includes activities linked to technical improvement of existing products and components and its impact in departmental operations and results, responsible for planning/execution. The role has some autonomy but is focused on execution of activities within an operating discipline covered by standard functional practices and procedures. Some judgment may be required but this is typically with guidance of experienced roles.

Job Description

Roles and Responsibilities

·  Provide mechanical design solutions, collaborate with cross-functional teams and roles understanding CTQs, engineering standards, industry specifications, etc. to create and review definition of parts, modules, and assemblies in the forms of 2D cross-sections, 2D Engineering Drawings and Model-Based Definition (MBD)
·  Perform part level tolerance stack-ups to meet function and assembly requirements, include the effect of GD&T in these tolerance analyses.
·  Use various electronic data formats to support analysis, manufacturing, assembly, tooling, and inspection.
·  In-depth understanding of key business drivers; uses this understanding to accomplish own work. In-depth understanding of how work of own team integrates with other teams and contributes to the area.
·  Uses some level of judgment and has ability to propose different solutions outside of set parameters but with guidance. Uses prior experience and on-the-job training to solve straightforward tasks. Has access to technical skills and analytic thinking required to solve problems. May use multiple internal sources outside of own team to arrive at decisions.
·  A job at this level is likely to be an individual contributor with proven interpersonal skills or an early people leader who can hire and develop talent. Provides informal guidance to new team members
 

Required Qualifications

·  Experience in the Engineering/Technology & Product Definition in components made of composites and conventional manufacturing processes.
·  Bachelor's degree from an accredited university
·  Strong oral and written communication skills. Demonstrated ability to analyze and resolve problems. Ability to document, plan, market, and execute programs. Established project management skills.
·  Strong user of computer aided design (CAD), preferably in Siemens NX
·  Understanding of data management systems, preferably Teamcenter
·  Moderate understanding of computer aided manufacturing (CAM) and manufacturing processes to deliver producible Product Definition
·  Proficient user of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing as it relates to individual parts and overall assemblies (ASME Y14.5)
·  Effective problem identification and solution skills
·  Systems thinking
·  Experience with drawing and model interpretation and creation
·  Understanding of industry engineering standards and specifications and its application/integration in Product Definition.

Desired Characteristics

·  Previous experience in engineering and/or Product Definition role.
·  Experience in the aerospace industry, preferably in a Product Definition role.
