Job description

Job Description Summary

The Quality Operations Project Engineer will lead Fleet Support’s execution system for corrective actions and Quality Escape Management (QEM) process performance, ensuring consistent cadence, high quality root cause and corrective action (RCCA), timely closure, and transparent reporting.
This role partners across Fleet Support sub-teams and with functions outside of Fleet Support to remove barriers, drive alignment, and provide leadership-ready insights to senior leaders. The role also builds and facilitates scalable toolkits and training to improve RCCA capability, and supports ad hoc quality projects requiring strong structure and project management.
An understanding and practical application of Lean and FLIGHT DECK is critical to support problem solving and standard work.

Job Description

Essential Responsibilities

The Quality Operations Project Engineer will:

Corrective Action Governance and Administration

·  Lead end-to-end corrective action tracking and governance, including intake, prioritization, ownership assignment, schedule management, evidence collection, closure documentation, and effectiveness considerations.
·  Act as proctor of the intake team of cross-functional representatives reviewing issues for assignment, ensuring efficient QEM lifecycle management.

QEM Metrics Ownership and Reporting

·  Define, produce, and continuously improve QEM reporting (e.g., aging, timeliness, closure quality, recurrence trends).
·  Translate data into actionable insights, clearly articulated risks, and recommended actions.

Cadence Leadership and Meeting Facilitation

·  Own the corrective action operating rhythm, including preparing agendas and materials, facilitating reviews, documenting decisions and actions, and ensuring disciplined follow-up to closure.

Cross-Functional Stakeholder Management

·  Coordinate across Fleet Support sub-teams and partner organizations (e.g., Engineering, Supply Chain, Manufacturing, Customer/Field Support) to manage dependencies and resolve blockers.
·  Raise critical issues to the Quality Director for support and drive overall process results.

RCCA Toolkit and Training Enablement

·  Build, maintain, and facilitate a toolkit of templates, examples, job aids, and “what good looks like” standards.
·  Deliver training and coaching to strengthen RCCA execution and prevent recurrence.

Standard Work and Continuous Improvement

·  Establish, document, and improve standard work and governance that increase the speed, quality, and transparency of corrective action execution and reporting.
·  Apply Lean and FLIGHT DECK problem-solving approaches to continuously improve quality processes.

Project Management for Quality Initiatives

·  Lead and support structured quality improvement and compliance projects (scope, schedule, risks, actions, stakeholder updates).
·  Provide rapid structure and clear execution for ad hoc quality initiatives.

Senior Leadership Communication

·  Develop clear, concise executive summaries and status updates for senior leadership, including key trends, at-risk items, escalation needs, and closure performance.

Required Qualifications

·  Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university or college (or equivalent knowledge/experience)
·  3-7+ years of experience in Quality, Operations, Engineering, or Program/Project Management

Desired Qualifications

·  Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional reviews, drive actions to closure, and maintain high-quality documentation
·  Experience building and communicating metrics and dashboards to support decision-making
·  Proven understanding and application of Lean and FLIGHT DECK principles.
·  Experience with RCCA methodologies (8D, 5 Whys, Fishbone/Ishikawa) and corrective action effectiveness concepts
·  Advanced Excel capability; Tableau, Power BI or similar reporting/visualization tools preferred
·  Aerospace/aviation services experience or experience in a regulated/quality-driven environment
·  Project management training/certification (PMP or equivalent) or demonstrated application of PM fundamentals
·  Strong ownership and follow-through, with the ability to influence without authority
·  Highly organized with a bias toward standard work, rigor, and on-time execution
·  Strong facilitation and communication skills, including executive-ready written updates
·  Analytical mindset with strong attention to detail and a continuous improvement approach
·  Collaborative and customer-driven, able to work effectively across multiple teams and priorities
