POSITION OVERVIEW
The Asset Management Engineer is responsible for managing the lifecycle of IT assets across global infrastructure. This includes hardware and software inventory, procurement coordination, compliance tracking, and optimization of asset usage. The role supports IT operations, financial planning, and cybersecurity efforts by ensuring accurate asset data and governance. Responsibilities and expectations vary by job grade.
Your future duties and responsibilities:
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES BY JOB GRADE
Junior Asset Management Engineer
• Support day-to-day asset tracking and inventory updates.
• Assist with hardware and software provisioning and de-provisioning.
• Maintain asset records in the ITSM system (e.g., ServiceNow).
• Help coordinate with vendors for deliveries and returns.
• Perform basic audits and reconciliations of asset data.
• Respond to asset-related service requests and incidents.
• Collaborate with IT support teams to ensure accurate asset tagging and documentation.
Intermediate Asset Management Engineer
• Manage asset lifecycle processes including acquisition, deployment, maintenance, and disposal.
• Ensure compliance with software licensing and usage policies.
• Conduct regular audits and generate reports for finance and compliance teams.
• Optimize asset utilization and support cost-saving initiatives.
• Coordinate with procurement and vendors for asset sourcing and renewals.
• Maintain and improve asset management workflows and documentation.
• Train junior staff and support cross-functional collaboration with IT, finance, and security teams.
Senior Asset Management Engineer
• Lead the global IT asset management strategy and governance.
• Define and implement policies for asset lifecycle, compliance, and optimization.
• Oversee integration of asset data with financial, procurement, and security systems.
• Analyze asset data to support strategic decisions and budgeting.
• Ensure alignment with cybersecurity and risk management frameworks.
• Manage vendor relationships and negotiate asset-related contracts.
• Represent asset management in audits, executive reviews, and cross-functional initiatives.
• Mentor and guide junior and mid-level engineers.
Required qualifications to be successful in this role:
SKILLS / COMPETENCIES
• Strong organizational and data management skills.
• Familiarity with ITSM platforms (e.g., ServiceNow, Ivanti).
• Understanding hardware and software lifecycle management.
• Knowledge of software licensing models and compliance.
• Analytical mindset with attention to detail.
• Effective communication and collaboration skills.
• Ability to work independently and in teams.
• For higher grades: strategic thinking, leadership, and cross-functional influence.
JOB SPECIFICATIONS
• Bachelor’s degree in information technology, Business Administration, or related field.
• Junior: 1–2 years of experience in IT operations or asset management.
• Intermediate: 3–5 years of experience in IT asset management or related roles.
• Senior: 5+ years of experience with leadership in IT asset management.
• Certifications such as ITIL, IAITAM, or SAM are a plus.
