Role Description
This is a great opportunity to support our Major Loss Commercial Property Claims Team, which holds a leading reputation in the market. In this role, you will report to the Head of Technical Property Strategy and manage a small team of Senior Technical Strategy Specialists, providing technical expertise to the Commercial Property Large Loss/Major Loss Team. You will embed our culture and values across stakeholders and act as a key advocate for the business. You will also represent Allianz at broker forums, promoting and championing our claims service, and support our Third Party Administrator (TPA) offering in collaboration with Underwriters and the internal TPA team.
You will have substantial financial authority (over £10 million), enabling you to manage the most complex and high-value claims. Your responsibilities will include delivering technical excellence, driving digital transformation, continuous improvement, and quality.
This is a role based in one of our Birmingham, London or Milton Keynes offices, with the expectation to be on site 1 day. Other UK offices would be considered.
Salary Information
Pay is based on relevant experience, skills for the role, and location. Salary is only one part of our total reward package.
About You
- Supporting the Head of Technical Property Strategy in developing and implementing the technical claims strategy and driving its execution across teams.
- Collaborating with internal stakeholders to optimise strategy execution, performance visibility, and business outcomes.
- Leading the LoB's approach to supplier performance, procurement alignment, and Claims Standards development and execution.
- Acting as a senior oversight point for technical referrals, large/complex claims, and recovery practices, ensuring alignment with internal standards and financial authority frameworks.
- Providing subject matter expertise in analytics, machine learning, and the technical claims impact on P&L performance.
- Developing, managing, and improving the technical capability of teams, including ownership of skills matrices and performance monitoring.
- Leading, inspiring, and developing a team of Technical Strategy Specialists handling major and complex losses.
- Deputising for the Head of Technical Property Strategy at strategic meetings and participating in Allianz SE Munich claims discussions.
- Driving strategic projects and business priorities, both within the team and across the wider organisation.
- Identifying trends, risks, and opportunities, and recommending improvements to the Senior Leadership Team (SLT).
- Supporting business development by contributing to customer/broker claims reviews, tenders, forums, and proposition development.
- Building and maintaining strong relationships with Underwriting, Actuarial, intermediaries, industry counterparts, and leading participation in ABI and other industry forums.
Essential Skills
- Proven expertise in technical knowledge and leading case law within area of specialism, including precedent-setting decisions.
- Regulatory knowledge in consumer duty requirements, Allianz claims standards, and operating in fast-paced, regulated environments.
- Strong understanding of customer needs, business operations, and market dynamics.
- Excellent leadership experience focused on performance, development, engagement, and adapting style to people and situations.
- Proven decision-making skills, comfortable owning solutions and making high-impact judgments.
- Strong problem-solving ability, including thinking creatively and embracing test-and-learn, fail-fast approaches.
- Demonstrated ability to coach and develop others, including leading training and coaching initiatives.
- Advanced analytical skills, including use of data to understand trends and drive performance improvements.
- Excellent presentation and communication skills, with experience in public speaking and representing at industry level and committees.
- Experience in driving and implementing change, with operational management in complex, regulated settings.
- Effective stakeholder management and negotiation skills, including collaboration with supply chain to deliver improvements.
- Proven technical expertise aligned to specific Lines of Business (e.g., motor casualty, property).
- Strong time management and prioritisation skills, with high resilience and ability to manage multiple tasks under pressure.
- Experience leading by example, consistently demonstrating desired behaviours and company values.
