We are looking for a Senior Underwriter Liability, based in Hamburg, on a part-time basis.

The Impact You Will Have

Reporting to the Underwriter Liability Manager, you will underwrite profitable new and renewal business to meet the Line of Business targets in Germany and in accordance with underwriting guidelines and underwriting authority. You will negotiate terms and conditions and take ownership of your own key clients as well as develop and maintain strong relationships with our broking and client partners in coordination with our distribution/client relationship team.

Some of your specific responsibilities could include:

Underwrite new and renewal accounts to meet top and bottom line targets.
Negotiate participation, pricing and terms and conditions with brokers.
Proactively manage exposure and capacity.
Proactively support acquisition of new business and retention of existing business
Proactively liaise with Market Management & Distribution on market management initiatives.
Positively represent Allianz Commercial externally to the market.
Develop and maintain strong relationships with key brokers and clients and other relevant stakeholders.

What You’ll Bring to the Role

Preferably a degree in Law, Business Administration or Economics or other appropriate discipline.
Significant experience in underwriting profitable large corp business in the Liability market in Germany, especially in Hamburg.
Recognized relationships with brokers and inhouse brokers at peer group level and well established within market, especially Hamburg.
Good understanding of regional/local Liability insurance markets and competitor landscape, including global elements.
Ability to assess risk inherent exposures relevant to the line of business.
Ability to analyse current performance against benchmarks applying how the market operates and functions, the business needs and customer needs.
Ability to design, develop and implement consistent, robust wordings.
Excellent understanding of policy administration life cycle, information collection, policy issuance, premium bookings, credit control, cancellation.
Excellent analytical skills.
Excellent communication skills and ability to create relationships and communicate clearly at all levels and with a wide range of people.
Ability to influence and motivate others to act, without executive authority.
You should be able to integrate AI-driven insights into your work to optimize outcomes and support broader organizational goals.
Fluency in German and English is required.
Experience in applying artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML) to improve business processes and decision-making is highly beneficial.
