Field Doctors Lead

Job description

The Field Doctor Lead is responsible for conducting on-site hospital visits to medically assess inpatient cases and evaluate the clinical justification for admissions and admission extensions. The role focuses on ensuring medical necessity, optimizing length of stay, supporting timely and safe discharges, and generating measurable cost savings for the TPA and its clients.

 

What you do

Clinical Review & Case Assessment

•Review inpatient cases extracted from the system according to defined roving and case selection criteria.
•Conduct on-site hospital visits to assess the medical necessity of admissions and requested extensions of stay.
•Evaluate diagnosis, treatment plans, investigations, progress notes, and clinical outcomes against medical guidelines and policy coverage.
•Determine whether continued hospitalization is clinically justified or if alternative care or discharge is appropriate.

Hospital Coordination & Communication

•Liaise professionally with treating physicians, nursing staff, and hospital administration to discuss case status and recommendations.
•Provide clear, evidence-based medical opinions while maintaining positive provider relationships.
•Support alignment between clinical best practice, policy terms, and cost-effective care.

Reporting & Documentation

•Prepare and submit comprehensive medical roving reports, including findings, recommendations, and outcomes.
•Clearly document decisions related to admission continuation, discharge, or alternative management plans.
•Ensure accurate, timely, and complete documentation in line with internal policies and regulatory requirements.
 
Discharge Optimization & Cost Containment .
•Actively contribute to early and appropriate discharge planning where clinically safe.
•Recommend step-down care, outpatient management, or home care when applicable.
•Track and calculate roving savings according to specific criteria.
 
AI READINESS Work effectively in an environment shaped by artificial intelligence (AI), machine learning, data, analytics and cloud-based tools, using insights responsibly with our standards of data governance, security and ethical use.
 
What you bring 
 
•Bachelor’s of Medicine (MBBS);
•3+ years medical practical experience (reputable insurance provider, broker or a TPA experience a plus).
•Knowledge of overall insurance industry practices is a plus.
•Legally permitted to work in the country of operations.
•Physically fit to carry out duties.
•Fluency in MS Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint) and general internet navigation and research skills.
