The Opportunity:
The Data Privacy Champion is responsible for encouraging a privacy culture in their business area and ensuring any concerns or queries, especially regarding potential data breach issues, are expediently escalated to the Data Protection Officer.
This role will be based within the business operations (Direct, Claims or Underwriting Teams) and will report to the respective manager in that area, and will have a dotted reporting line into the Data Protection Officer.
Key Responsibilities:
· Ensure appropriate implementation of the Data Protection Framework within the relevant department (Claims/Direct or UW teams) across Allianz at the direction of the Allianz DPO;
· Support the business area on complying with data privacy and protection requirements, and timely seek the advice of the Allianz DPO where appropriate;
· Leading key activities associated with the management of data for operational business areas (Direct, Claims & UW teams businesses, providing expert guidance, ensuring compliance and driving Data Protection processes efficiency.
· Responsible for the completion of Subject Access Requests (collation of the file, redacting appropriate information and analysing exemptions under GPDR and communicating SAR to the data subject).
· Influencing the business and working with all functions collaboratively to ensure that Data Protection considerations are incorporated at the outset of new projects, processes and programmes (Privacy by Design).
· Reviewing, evolving and support the businesses with the Data Breach process in with GDPR to reduce breach exposure.
· Assisting with Data Protection compliance audits in accordance with the Data Protection Commissioner audit standards
· Driving a GDPR compliant culture through developing and fostering strong relationships across the business
· Reporting on GDPR compliance standards, initiatives and data protection KPIs across Allianz Ireland
· Handling of Garda data sharing requests
· Promote and deliver key data privacy and protection messages, and assist the DPO with the preparation and delivery of data privacy and protection training, awareness, and communication initiatives;
· Support the business area on the completion of the breach report and ensuring that mitigating actions are implemented.
· Advise the business functions and the DPO on whether PIAs should be completed for processes or procedures that pose a privacy and data protection risk;
· Support the business on completion of PIAs and offer recommendations as per Privacy by design Model
· Assist the business functions to create and maintain records of Processing activities, based on the information provided by the Information Owner and in accordance with the Functional Rule on Privacy Impact Assessments (PIAs) and Records of Processing;
Essential Experience:
Minimum of 18 months plus experience within Insurance, Regulated environment
· Strong understanding of Data Protection and GDPR
· Experience dealing with Data Breaches and in depth familiarity with Data Privacy procedures
· Strong knowledge and expertise utilising internal Allianz systems e.g Staff Ware, I90 etc
· In depth knowledge of internal business processes and procedures
Desirable
Ideally an appropriate 3rd level qualification in business/Data Protection or relevant discipline
· Willingness to undertake a DP formal qualification
· CIP qualification is advantageous but not essential

Appointment to this role will be subject to the requirements provided for by the Central Bank of Ireland. This role is a Control Function (CF2) and is subject to F&P Standards. This includes the requirements provided for by the Central Bank (Individual Accountability The successful candidate will be provided with the relevant Conduct Standards (including Additional Conduct Standards) training, where required.
