We are looking for a Senior Property Underwriter, based in Rotterdam.

The Impact You Will Have 
As a Senior Property Underwriter, you’ll play a crucial role in underwriting profitable new and renewal business. You’ll manage key client accounts, negotiate terms, pricing, and participation, and work proactively with brokers and clients to build and strengthen these relationships. 

 

Some of your specific responsibilities could include: 

· 
Underwrite profitable business, including new and renewal accounts to meet growth and profit targets 

· 
Negotiate participation, pricing and terms and conditions with brokers to secure profitable deals 

· 
Proactively manage exposure and capacity to ensure strategic use of resources 

· 
Underwrite and evaluate capacity aggregations including Natural Catastrophe Accumulation, ensuring an understanding of catastrophe modelling and interpretation of scenarios  

· 
Proactively support acquisition of new business and retention of existing business  (including client and broker negotiations where necessary) 

· 
Proactively liaise with Market Management & Distribution (MMC) on market management initiatives 

· 
Positively represent Allian Commercial externally to the market 

· 
Develop and maintain strong relationships with key brokers and clients and other relevant stakeholders (e.g. risk managers) 

· 
Training, developing and coaching of less experienced staff (including Junior Underwriters, Operations and Credit Control) 

 

What You’ll Bring to the Role 

· 
You have preferably, a degree in Economics, Law, or a related discipline or progress toward a professional insurance qualification. 

· 
Solid experience and a proven track record in underwriting or broking profitable business within Property lines. Candidates from a risk engineering background are also encouraged to apply. 

· 
You know the Dutch property insurance markets and competitive landscape. 

· 
You have an understanding of legal and regulatory requirements in the insurance industry. 

· 
You have skills in risk assessment, including evaluating exposures and natural hazards. 

· 
You have experience analyzing performance against benchmarks to drive improvements. 

· 
You are familiar with the policy administration cycle, including information collection, policy issuance, and credit control. 

· 
You are able to persuade and motivate others to act, without executive authority 

· 
You have great communication skills in English and Dutch.
