Job Description
The Director of Sales and Marketing is responsible for overseeing all sales and marketing activities for the hotel, including managing the sales team, developing strategic initiatives, and creating marketing campaigns. This role involves driving revenue through effective sales strategies, establishing partnerships, and promoting the hotel’s brand image in the marketplace. The Director of Sales and Marketing works closely with other departments to ensure that sales initiatives align with the hotel's overall goals and guest experience standards.
Qualifications
1. Educational Background
· Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing, Business Administration, Hospitality Management, or a related field is typically required.
· A Master’s Degree (e.g., MBA) is often preferred, particularly in higher-end or large hotel chains.
2. Industry Experience
· Experience in Hospitality : Minimum of 3–10 years in sales and marketing within the hospitality industry, with at least 2–5 years in a management role. This helps with understanding customer expectations, seasonal trends, and revenue management in the hotel industry.
· Sales and Marketing Expertise : Proven record in achieving revenue and growth targets, as well as managing teams and leading sales initiatives.
3. Key Skills and Competencies
· Sales Leadership : Ability to develop and lead a sales team, create sales strategies, and execute marketing campaigns.
· Analytical Skills : Strong understanding of market analysis, revenue management, and ROI-driven decision-making.
· Relationship-Building Skills : Strong networking and client relationship skills, often essential for building corporate and group business.
· Digital Marketing Knowledge : Experience with online marketing strategies, SEO, social media, and digital channels is increasingly valuable.
· Communication Skills : Excellent written and verbal communication skills for creating persuasive presentations, marketing materials, and sales pitches.
· Budgeting and Financial Acumen : Strong understanding of budgeting, forecasting, and profit margin improvement.
