Our location in Portsmouth, VA currently has an opportunity for a Warehouse Worker. The Warehouse Worker position is within our Toxicology Division located in Portsmouth, VA at Instant Technologies. In this role, you would be responsible for accurate processing of customer shipments at Alere Toxicology PRT warehouse. The main objective is to pay attention to detail and ensure freight charges are correct. In addition, you will ensure that all outbound cartons are placed on the correct truck and communicate to appropriate personnel when product needs to be placed on backorder status.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

·  Reads picking sheets prior to handling/ship processing cartons
·  Process customer packages by utilizing Sage ERP & Starship software.
·  Meets department goals for zero truck loading errors.
·  Apply the correct ship method label to the proper customer shipment
·  Assists team members in picking, staging, loading, unloading, rotation and storage of product.
·  Maintains cleanliness of the warehouse by sweeping floor, wiping up spills, and keeping product organized.
·  Follows and abides by all company safety rules.
·  Prepare customer packing list
·  Must utilize company issued stamp at the conclusion of the shipping process
·  Ensure all notes on the picking sheet are read and understood (3rd party, collect account #’s)
·  Helps prepare for end of year physical inventory
·  Records all damage per Company policy and handles damage/dents as they happen.
·  Insures proper handling of all picking sheet are placed on the correct carton(s)
·  Ensures proper floor space is kept clean while picking
·  Must be detailed oriented
·  Perform 3rd party billing transactions and ship address changes
·  File customer invoices for billing purposes
·  Execute shipment quotes for the sales team
·  Ability to read and understand Federal Express and United Parcel Service transit time maps
·  Knowledge of international shipment process
·  Ability to train and execute international shipment documentation (CI,SLI,SED)
·  Ability to schedule LTL shipments via telephone or internet
·  Effective communicator
·  Process small package and large package shipments
·  Conducts daily housekeeping assignments as directed by warehouse management staff.
·  Seeks out inefficiencies in warehouse operations and make recommendations.
·  Performs other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE YOU’LL BRING

Required

·  Requires High School Diploma or equivalent

Preferred

·  Basic math skills to count product
·  Ability to read product labels and picking sheets
·  Ability to follow work instructions
·  Forklift certification, or ability to become certified (company provided).
·  Ability to communicate discrepancies to warehouse supervisor.
·  Must be able to operate rolling pushcart, electric forklift and manual pallet jack
