JOB DESCRIPTION:

Primary Job Function:

  • Coordinates and completes online course setup on the Global Commercial Learning Management System (LMS) by enforcing use of departmental procedures
  • Proactively consults and collaborates with project leads and content developers to ensure LMS design standards are met
  • Provides expertise in system functionality and usability during training design and development
  • Loads, tests, and releases content in all languages for a global audience in the LMS
  • Sets up training surveys and provides reports for training program evaluations through the Metrics That Matter (MTM) system
  • Collaborates with and provides status reports to Global Training team lead
  • Evaluates the effectiveness of courseware and programming and ensure tracking through the LMS and compliance with AICC/SCORM standards
  • Attends calls with help desk and with the SumTotal vendor technical support team for any tickets that need escalating
  • Supports instructors and Area LMS Admins with questions regarding process changes and reminders, new training modules posted, support tools, etc.
  • Applies knowledge and experience within the commercial organization to the solution of Training IS issues
  • Maintains working knowledge of best practices in training and new technologies to develop state of the art approaches to changing development and training needs
  • Analyzes industry and professional standards for purposes of informing and making recommendations and modifications to our technology practices and processes

Core Job Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for implementing and maintaining the effectiveness of the quality system.
  • Leads process teams and projects; identifies scope and outcomes; motivates participants; and drives
  • projects to conclusion.
  • Works with Subject Matter Experts (SMEs); Area LMS Administrators; Learning Unit Developers; and
  • Instructional Designers
  • Ensures compliance with all Training Procedures and Policies.
  • Maintains change control for all training records.
  • Prepares learning metrics for management review.
  • Establishes strong working relationships with business areas.
  • Establishes priorities and work flow with Learning Management.
  • Participates in compliance audits
  • Incorporates new technology such as computer-based instruction / multimedia format to enhance learning
  • (working closely with the instructional designers and learning unit developers)
  • Articulates the virtues of an effective learning system and all its attributes and metrics
  • Demonstrates high level of proficiency in training delivery.
  • Maintains environment conducive to learning and creates conditions for transfer of learning
  • Maintains and analyzes training metrics for efficiencies; effective learning; and continuous improvement
  • Ensure LMS system is working and available for use for Sales, Service, and Support staff.
  • Evaluate, interact and direct external consultants and outside vendors to implement product programs/updates/improvements, coordinate production, manage implementation and effective learning course material.
  • Support USCT page on ADD online and serve and as a liaison with Site and Divisional systems training staff.

  • Provides guidance and technical direction to other levels of trainers.
  • Links learning activities to the long - term business strategy.
  • This position requires a high degree of self-direction and minimal supervision.

Minimum Education:

Bachelor's degree in Education; Human Resources; Business; Science; Engineering; Operations; Quality

or Instructional Design. Or significant work history (7+ years) combined in training and/or learning – related field the training; HR Master's degree: not required

Minimum Experience / Training Required:

  • Strong interpersonal skills (within sites, across sites, between Divisions).
  • Good presentation skills (learning concepts, data, projects, etc).
  • Communicate well with all levels of the organization.
  • Interfaces with other Abbott Sites and Division Learning Groups
  • Good analytical skills to demonstrate learning metrics.
  • Able to manage multiple client areas (R&D, Commercial, Quality, etc).
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).
  • Provides monthly reviews, status reports, and project summaries
  • Knowledge of regulations and standards affecting IVDs and Biologics.
  • Experience in multiple business areas in a regulated industry
  • Strong background (7+ years) in staff development, training delivery, instructional design, basic project management skills
  • Experience with Six Sigma tools: LEAN, DMAIC, KAIZEN, RCA, FEMA, CPI, process mapping, etc is desired but not required.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively interface with all levels of management from Site VP to front line supervisors and employees.
  • Also interfaces with other Abbott sites. Needs experience in working in a cross - functional work environment.
