Abbott Diabetes Care (ADC) is part of the Medical Devices division. ADC is a Global Centre of Excellence for the manufacture of medical devices and produces innovative blood glucose monitoring systems for people with Diabetes.

ADC is based in Witney, Oxfordshire. The Witney site is ~15 miles from Oxford train station, from which there is easy access to London and other parts of the country. There is a direct bus service from Witney into Oxford.

The Technical Operations Group at ADC, Witney is looking to recruit a Statistician to join our team on a permanent basis to provide statistical support for the manufacture, continuous improvement and process & performance monitoring of our products. The successful candidate would be based in the Witney office.

Typical work includes:

  • Monitoring product release, stability and clinical performance data to ensure control and drive continuous improvement
  • Supporting technical investigations performed within the manufacturing unit
  • Assisting with the introduction of analytical test methods (analysis of variance, setting acceptance criteria & capability analysis) and supporting efforts in reducing measurement variability
  • Working with technologists, scientists and engineers to introduce new machines, materials and processes, including the design and analysis of experiments to optimise settings and acceptance sampling

As a minimum, you should hold a HND or equivalent in Mathematics, Statistics or a numerical science subject.

You will have good oral and written communication skills to be able to prepare reports, interpret results, and provide effective summaries for specialist and non-specialist audiences. You must be organised and flexible in your approach to work, with good attention to detail in order to ensure that data and analyses are accurate and meet the requirements of the project.


Other desirable, but not pre-requisite stills include:

  • Previous experience working in a regulated or manufacturing environment
  • Experience of product release/stability/clinical performance monitoring
  • Experience with SAS programming
