Abbott Diabetes Care (ADC) is part of the Medical Devices group. ADC designs, develops and manufactures leading-edge blood glucose monitoring technology for use in both home and hospital settings, including our revolutionary Freestyle Libre Flash Glucose Monitoring System. In our Centre of Excellence in Witney, we design, develop and manufacture test strips and biosensors which are used by patients and healthcare professionals for the day-to-day management of diabetes.

The Technical Operations Group at ADC is looking to recruit a Statistician to join our team at our manufacturing site in Witney Oxfordshire. The successful candidate will work as part of the Statistics team providing statistical support in the manufacture, continuous improvement and monitoring of our products. Typical work includes:

  • Using statistical process control (SPC), work with technologists in monitoring product performance to ensure control and drive continuous improvements.
  • Monitor data collected throughout shelf-life and support work to optimise product accuracy.
  • Support technical investigations performed within the manufacturing unit.
  • Work with engineers, scientists and technologists to introduce new machines, materials and processes including design and analysis of experiments to optimise settings and acceptance sampling.
  • Assist with the introduction of analytical test methods (analysis of variance, setting acceptance criteria & capability analysis) and support efforts in reducing measurement variability.

As a minimum, you should hold a BSc in Mathematics, Statistics or a numerical science subject and have experience in mathematical modelling. You will have experience in a regulated or manufacturing environment, ideally medical device industry. SAS programming skills will also be an advantage. You will have good oral and written communication skills to be able to prepare reports, interpret results, and provide effective summaries. You must be organised and flexible in your approach to work, with good attention to detail in order to ensure that data and analyses are accurate and meet the requirements of the project.

Salary range: £30,000 - 37,000 per annum
