JOB DESCRIPTION:
We are looking to hire a technical expert to develop MRI conditionally safe implantable Neuromodulation devices from concept to commercialization. Our MRI development team is facilitating an aggressive, innovative pipeline of new products over the next several years by developing revolutionary processes and technologies to support Abbott’s rapidly growing Neuromodulation business.
Impact this role will have at Abbott:
Influence and represent the MRI Hardware Engineering team supporting rapidly growing neuromodulation business
Fill critical MRI technological chasm between idea conception and manufacturing execution for delivering new products to market.
Providing our Neuromodulation business with a competitive advantage
Essential Responsibilities:
Collaborate with other function groups to develop new MRI designs
Develop novel approaches for improving MRI labeling of active implantable medical devices
Develop optimal test methods for MRI requirements & create test protocols to prove design parameters
Communicate professionally with articles, patents, white-papers or other technical exposition
Qualifications:
Bachelor or advanced degree (PhD preferred) in Electrical, Biomedical, Physics relevant discipline
Minimum of 10+ years’ experience in medical device development, specifically related to MRI interactions applying electromagnetic theory to MRI safety
MRI safety standards (ISO/TS 10974 and IEC 60601-2-33) -- Preferred
Implantable and external, Class II and Class III medical devices -- Preferred
Experience with characterization and verification test design and documentation, Data analysis (MATLAB or similar), High frequency numerical electromagnetic simulations (HFSS, Sim4Life, etc.)
Automated instrument control -- Preferred
Contributions to the field of MRI safety through published journal articles and/or conference presentations
Desire to mentoring and leading small teams of junior engineers
