JOB DESCRIPTION:

Abbott Rapid Diagnostics is part of Abbott’s Diagnostics family of businesses, bringing together exceptional teams of experts and industry leading technologies to support diagnostic testing which provides important information for the workplace, healthcare providers, and individuals. The position of Software Engineer I is a part of our Toxicology business unit, principally located in our Kansas City, Missouri office.  The eScreen Software Engineer is a creative software professional capable of moving quickly while breaking down and solving complex problems.  We are developers who own our solutions and influence the direction of our technology.  As a member of our high performing eScreen Agile Scrum team, our people are highly collaborative, demonstrating a high level of team communication and cooperation. Key responsibilities include innovative development solutions, design, and best practices applied to user-focused sustainable software solutions utilizing cutting edge technologies. RESPONSIBILITIES: - Collaborate closely with the team to take shared responsibility for the overall efforts to which the team has committed itself - Interact with users to clarify requirements and take ownership for the quality of software - Break larger projects into smaller ones that can be delivered iteratively, using an agile mindset - Work with existing toolsets while bringing new ideas and approaches into the team - Support post-deployment fallouts on projects worked on and released to production BASIC QUALIFICATIONS | EDUCATION: - Associates Degree in Computer Science or a related degree (or equivalent work experience), OR completion of coding development program (or equivalent training) - Knowledge of one or more of the following: JavaScript, C#, ASP.NET, ASP.NET Core, and MVC   PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: - 1 or more years of software development in a team environment - Knowledge of one or more modern front-end technologies such as React - Basic understanding of object-oriented design and development - Basic understanding of cloud computing principles - Working knowledge of Windows operating systems and Microsoft Office applications including Outlook, Word, Excel, Visio, PowerPoint, etc.   COMPETENCIES:  - Problem-solving and decision-making skills - Ability to work in a dynamic and fast paced environment - Ability to set and meet tight deadlines and function well under pressure   About Abbott:   At Abbott, we're committed to helping people live their best possible life through the power of health.
