The Opportunity:

Our Diagnostics business currently has an opportunity for the role of Senior   Data Scientist for our  Lake Forest, IL  location. The primary function of this position is to create predictive maintenance algorithms that detect impending failures before they occur leading to increased uptime and greater laboratory productivity. Using Abbottlink to monitor and collect data from an array of instrument sensors, the team designs algorithms using the latest concepts in Deep Learning and Artificial Intelligence and deploys them to production in a custom solution that integrates with the service ticketing backend to automatically deploy field service engineers.

What You’ll Work On:

·  Conduct exploratory data analysis to identify patterns and trends, informing the development of robust algorithms.
·  Design, develop and optimize machine learning models to solve complex problems.
·  Monitor and track model performance in production, identify and address issues, and iterate on models for continuous improvement.
·  Perform rigorous testing and validation of models to ensure reliability and accuracy in diverse real-world scenarios.
·  Retrain existing machine learning models in to adapt the models to the latest developments in field conditions, instrument software and hardware updates, and service procedures.
·  Work closely with stakeholders to understand business requirements and translate them into technical solutions.
·  Collaborate with service field personnel on service ticketing issues, algorithm deployment, and other field questions or concerns.
·  Stay up to date with the latest advancements in machine learning research and implement relevant technologies to drive continuous improvement.
·  Create and maintain documentation required to operate in a regulated medical device space.
·  Collaborate with data scientists and data engineers to define data requirements, clean and prepare data for training, evaluate model performance, and integrate models into scalable, production-ready systems.
·  Build and maintain machine learning pipelines, including data ingestion, feature engineering, model training and deployment.
·  Communicate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders, explaining complex machine learning concepts and the impact of your work.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE YOU’LL BRING

Minimum Qualifications:

·  Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Data Science, or a related field and 3+ years experience as a machine learning engineer or similar role.
·  Proficient in R / Python (TensorFlow, Keras, PyTorch etc.) and SQL.
·  Strong understanding of core machine learning concepts, algorithms, and techniques.
·  Experience with data cleaning, wrangling, feature engineering, and model evaluation.
·  Experience with cloud platforms like AWS, Azure, or GCP.
·  Commitment to staying up to date on industry trends and technologies.
·  Excellent written and verbal communication skills to convey complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders and collaborate effectively across teams.

Preferred Qualifications:

·  Advanced degree in Computer Science, Data Science, or closely related discipline is preferred.

The base pay for this position is
$72,700.00 – $145,300.00

In specific locations, the pay range may vary from the range posted.
