Job Description: CFS  RTR Accountant - APOC  

Primary Job Function  
The main responsibilities for the Sr. Accountant in the Americas Hub is to serve as liaison between our Share Service Third Party provider, FP&A and CFS RTR and drive process improvements. The Sr. Accountant will perform accounting related work and review journal entries and reconciliations performed by the Shared Service Third Party colleagues.  Also the Sr. Accountant Abbott Point of Care (APOC) will be responsible for and will support the price, volume, and mix reporting process, freight process, tax packages, R&D tax credit, HFM loading process, revenue disclosures, and other APOC monthly, quarterly, and annual reporting requirements. In addition this position supports the Core Diagnostics rebate process, including tracking, estimates, payments and accruals.

Location: This role can be based in Lake County, Illinois or Princeton, NJ.

The Sr Accountant – CFS RTR APOC will assist in the successful delivery of monthly, quarterly, and annual global consolidated financial results for the following Divisions (values represent 2023 net sales): 

·  APOC - $565MM 

This role is also responsible for assisting in internal/external audits and interactions with tax, while ensuring strong and effective financial controls are in place and executed. 

The Sr Accountant will develop processes to make sure the financial statements are produced in accordance with GAAP and complies with all Sox requirements and all Abbott Corporate Policies and Procedures, and for all Divisional financial reporting requirements to Divisional Management and Corporate.  This individual will be responsible for day-to-day General Accounting (GA) operations and Financial Reporting for APOC.  The Sr Accountant will supervise to two resources with Abbott’s outsource accounting provider, Genpact.  Additionally, this individual is accountable for ensuring that the delivery of service commitment is met in line with agreed upon Service Level Agreements. 

Core Job Responsibilities  

·  Assist the manager to ensure that Corporate and Divisional deadlines are met for Actuals reporting, and that the Division’s financial statements are accurately stated  
·  Assist in the coordination between Financial Planning and Analysis, Corporate Financial Service, outsourced team and other functional areas to ensure effective month-end close and related reporting to Divisional Management and Corporate. 
·  Compile and analyze financial information through preparation of reports, general ledger entries and other financial transactions. 
·  Complete external and internal audits requests, Sox requests, tax requests and other ad hoc related requests.
·  Identify, develop and implement processes to improve department performance. 
·  Participate in process reviews as a part of continuous improvement activities. 
·  Monitor daily work operations and provides guidance/direction and guidance to Share Services offshore team. 
·  Complete ad hoc analysis, reviews or reports within Divisions and Corporate functions as necessary. 
·  Review and approve Third Party Shared Service Accounting journal entries and balance sheet reconciliations and complete the monthly financial close process.
·  Review and assist in maintenance of third Party Shared Services Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). Provides on the job training (OJT) as necessary for new Shared Service Third Party activities.
·  Maintain Standard Operating Procedures for Hub activities. Completes OJT as necessary for new activities.
·  Prepare analysis for the backup of Hub performed journal entries and balance sheet reconciliations.
·  Successfully navigate ERP to view documents and account balances, run reports, analyze purchase orders invoices, and utilize SAP data for analytics.
·  Efficiently complete Microsoft Excel spreadsheets including pivot tables, vlookups, conditional formatting, and analysis of data.
·  Complete quarterly balance sheet reviews with the Division FP&A and business
·  Complete price, volume, mix reporting in TM1 (Hyperion Based) planning system
·  Complete loading process for HFM (Oracle) actuals from legacy ERP
·  Complete external and internal audits requests, Sox requests, tax requests and other ad hoc related requests.
·  Liaise with FP&A, CFS, and other Americas Hub team members to execute the financial close, provide guidance, and work together to improve processes.
·  Ensure compliance with policies and procedures including CFMs.
·  Elevate issues and recommend solutions.
·  Operate independently within a varied and changing scope of responsibilities under some supervision.
·  Complete special projects as assigned.

Minimum Education & Experience  

·  Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance is required. CPA or MBA preferred.   
·  3-7 years of progressive accounting/financial experience.  Prior experience in Shared Services is strongly preferred. 
·  Strong technical, analytical, and problem-solving skills. 
·  Apply professional concepts and company policies and procedures to solve routine problems and exercise independent decision making. 
·  Excellent communication and interpersonal skills as this role interacts with domestic and international organizations within Diagnostics Divisions, all Finance towers (including FP&A, Shared Services, CFS), and Division Management. 
·  Able to work under pressure, consistently meet deadlines and direct activities on several projects at one time. 
·  Strong Microsoft Excel/Powerpoint skills and previous experience with HFM/SAP is a plus. 
·  TM1 and Cognos/Global BI experience is a plus. 

Travel Requirements  

25% travel required as needed, mostly to Noida, India and within the US including Princeton, NJ or Lake County, Illinois.

     

The base pay for this position is
$72,700.00 – $145,300.00

In specific locations, the pay range may vary from the range posted.
