JOB DESCRIPTION:

Summary

Provides scientific and technical expertise in the design of medical devices.  This Research and Development (R&D) position and requires technical background to interact with scientists and other technical roles. This is a lead role for the R&D filling and labeling operation and the incoming and outgoing R&D material process.  This role is accountable for project ownership and management of ideas and projects from conception through execution.  Identifies problems and applies scientific principles and/or area knowledge to resolve a broad range of complex problems and special requests.  Communicates work and project status at multiple levels of the organization.

This role is an individual contributor that works under limited supervision and serves as a lead in the area. Applies subject matter knowledge; requires capacity to understand specific needs or requirements to apply skills/knowledge.

Main Responsibilities

  • Complies with U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) regulations, other regulatory requirements, Company policies, operating procedures, processes, and task assignments.
  • Maintains positive and cooperative communications and collaboration with all levels of employees, customers, contractors, and vendors.
  • Supports and collaborates with multi-discipline R&D areas.  Extensive communication and interaction with both external and internal customers. 
  • Generates detailed records and follows all applicable procedures and OPs.  Maintains good documentation practices. 
  • Generates periodic reports and completes updates as needed.
  • Takes a lead role in the team.  Works as part of a team to support area objectives.  Leads and represents area in cross-functional team meetings and provides input on processes and timing.
  • Leads in designing, developing and executing process improvements and other projects and presents project conclusions.
  • Resolves invoicing issues.
  • Organizes and analyzes data from work performed and presents conclusions.
  • Analyzes failures and takes solid actions to prevent recurrence.  Lead others to do the same.
  • Leverages and/or engages others to accomplish projects.
  • Participates in project design reviews and planning. Tracks performance against plan. Develops plan in conjunction with technical supervisor.
  • Supports R&D needs for filling, labeling, kit assembly, inbound material processing, packing, and shipping materials and commodities.
  • Addresses problems with machine operations, especially automated filling equipment.
  • Escalates significant problems to the appropriate level of management. 

Requirements

  • BS Degree plus 4 years of related laboratory / industrial experience or MS Degree with 2 years minimum relevant experience or PhD in a life or physical science.
  • Basic computer skills
  • Knowledge of analytical instruments

Preferred Requirements

  • Well versed in lab safety procedures.
  • Understands general warehousing requirements.
  • Capable of obtaining a Powered Industrial Truck (forklift driver) certification and must have/be able to obtain a valid driver’s license.
  • Must be able to work in varied temperatures (room temperature, cooler, freezer) and heights (up to 40 feet). 
  • Must be able to perform light warehouse work and lift, move, push, pull up to 30 lbs.
