The Opportunity

This position works out of our Alameda, CA location in the Abbott Diabetes Care Division, where we are focused on helping people with diabetes manage their health with life-changing products that provide accurate data to drive better-informed decisions. We’re revolutionizing the way people monitor their glucose levels with our new sensing technology.   This is a 5 day in office position.

The reliability engineer II will conduct No Product Return investigations into quality issues on ADC on market products. This person will collaborate with manufacturing sites and TPMs to access DHR records to perform DHR review. They will also identify and escalate product issues and nonconformances, develop and propose continuous improvement initiatives for complaint handling process including the No Product Return investigation. They should be able to identify, collect, analyze, and manage various types of data in support of investigation for On Market Products and evaluate complaint documentation and investigation information, determine what level of further investigation, if any, is required to determine a possible failure of a device, labeling, or packaging to meet any of its specifications. The ideal candidate should be able to examine and interpret relevant data to quickly develop an analysis plan that will answer key business questions and create value for the organization. Lastly, this person will define process improvements to ensure consistent implementation of internal requirements and external laws, regulations, guidance/standards, as well as coordinate with third party service provider to perform No Product Return investigations, monitor performance of KPI and provide training

What you’ll work on

·  Collect and examine basic reliability and investigation data from engineering studies or database, and correlate the data for analysis using established engineering techniques, principles, and/or procedures.
·  Perform engineering analysis on failure modes.
·  Initiate elemental engineering studies into equipment/process failures and present details of the analysis to more experienced engineers for approval/feedback for gaining in-depth experience and improving judgment for advancing to higher level jobs.
·  Work with a cross functional team to develop Corrective and/or Preventive Actions resulting from investigations.
·  Engage in effective written and verbal communications within the area and cross functionally.
·  Support a work environment that ensures team effectiveness.
·  Lack of focused attention to job duties as well as failure to comply with all internal and external requirements may lead to non-conformances.
·  This may lead to regulatory/field action and/or delays in product availability to customers.
·  Must be able to work independently and to work with a team towards team goals.
·  Must be able to investigate an issue to probable or root cause.
·  Attention to detail is critical.
·  Good written and oral communication skills are required to ensure effective and succinct report generation, and effective communication with staff at all levels of the organization.
·  To be an effective member of a multifunctional team.
·  To ensure that all communications, interpersonal interactions and business behaviors are consistent with the Abbott Code of Conduct.

Required Qualifications

·  Bachelors Degree in a technical (e.g. electrical/mechanical/software) or scientific (e.g. statistics/math) discipline.
·  Minimum 2 years Preferably in an electronic testing environment.
·  Medical device, regulatory environment or pharmaceutical manufacturing is a plus.
·   Must have fundamental knowledge of concepts, practices, and procedures of a particular field .
·  Credentials of a Certified Quality Engineer are a plus.
·  Knowledge of GMP, ISO, FDA regulations, and quality systems auditing is desired.
·  Must possess good communication and analytical skills. Ability to work under deadlines.
·  Demonstrated strong project management skills, experience leading global projects preferred.
·  Demonstrated supervisory experience.
·  Engineering experience and demonstrated use of Quality tools/methodologies.
·  Solid communication and interpersonal skills.
·  Strong project management and leadership skills, including the demonstrated ability to lead multi-departmental project teams and resolve quality-related issues in a timely and effective manner.
·  Demonstrates technical leadership within the department and outside the department.
·  Experience working in a broader enterprise/cross-division business unit model preferred.
·  Ability to work in a highly matrixed and geographically diverse business environment.
·  Ability to work within a team and as an individual contributor in a fast-paced, changing environment.
·  Ability to leverage and/or engage others to accomplish projects.
·  Strong organizational and follow-up skills, as well as attention to detail.

The base pay for this position is
$65,900.00 – $131,900.00

In specific locations, the pay range may vary from the range posted.
