Our location in Abbott Park (Lake Bluff), Illinois currently has an opportunity for a Postdoctoral Analytical Chemist.  

WHAT YOU’LL DO

This is a Postdoctoral Scientist fellowship and will last up to three years.

Responsibilities of the Postdoctoral Analytical Chemist will include:

·  Design and execute analytical experiments toward characterization of proteins, including enzymes.
·  Conceive, plan, design, and conduct advanced studies to develop analytical techniques for characterization of proteins and enzymes.
·  Design and conduct bioanalytical experiments to characterize proteins using molecular beacons, fluorescence polarization assays, primer extension.
·  Analyze proteins by HPLC, electrophoresis (gel and capillary), spectrophotometric and immunochemical methods.
·  Develop and execute test method characterizations.
·  Troubleshoot instrumentation and method problems.
·  Contribute independently and participate in cross-functional teams; collaborate with protein fermentation, protein purification and assay development scientists.
·  Evaluate and summarize data using analytical methodologies, interpret results, draw conclusions and recommends options for future experiments to achieve project goals.
·  Document studies effectively and timely in laboratory notebook.
·  Recommend options for future experiments.
·  Present scientific observations at team meetings.
·  Anticipate, recognize and resolve technical problems.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE YOU’LL BRING

Required:

·  B.S. plus 4 years minimum related lab/industrial experience or M.S. with 2 years minimum relevant experience or Ph.D. in a life or physical science; Analytical Chemistry strongly desired.  
·  Basic Computer skills.
·  Knowledge of analytical instruments assigned by supervisor.

Preferred:

·  Analytical Chemistry, Biochemistry, Biophysical Chemistry, Protein Chemistry is strongly desired
·  Experience with molecular beacons, fluorescence assays, primer extension
·  Experience with protein structure/function relationship is beneficial
·  Experience in test method validation is desired
