JOB DESCRIPTION:
Global Operations Controller
As Operations Controller - Global at our Pleasanton, CA site, you will be representing and supporting Abbott’s Heart Failure business unit on all financial issues relating to the Divisional Operational Leadership. In this role, you will responsible for appraising operating results in terms of costs, budgets, and policies of operations, trends and increased profit opportunities. You will have immediate responsibility for the organization's accounting practices, the maintenance of its fiscal records, and the preparation of its financial reports. A person in this role directs and has overall management responsibility for general accounting, cost accounting, and financial analysis.
Primary Responsibilities:

Ensures accuracy of financial accounts and records, and assists in the protection and proper utilization of company assets.

Directs the preparation of metrics and statistics of periodic and yearly financial statements
·
Provides general oversight of the Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, Payroll, General Ledger, Cost Accounting and Financial Planning/Analysis.
·
Manages directly reporting subordinates. Responsible for the division’s general accounting, property accounting and form accounting for the division including performance evaluations, training, motivation development, hire/termination and related activities. Oversees supervision of in-directly reporting subordinates.
·
Interprets operating results as they affect the financial aspects of the corporation and makes specific recommendations, which will result in cost reductions and profit improvements.

Provides leadership in the forecasting and planning of the Company’s financial and operating results.
·
Hires and retains a diverse, highly qualified staff and provides ongoing performance feedback. Sets goals which align to department plans and manages the execution of goals through coaching and mentoring. Maintains a safe and professional work environment.
·
Complies with U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) regulations, other regulatory requirements, Company policies, operating procedures, processes, and task assignments. Maintains positive and cooperative communications and collaboration with all levels of employees, customers, contractors, and vendors.
·
Global and domestic travel (less than 15%) to direct offices and to operational plants & events after COVID-19 restrictions are lifted.
Required Qualifications:
·
Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business or a related discipline
·
10+ years of progressively more responsible experience in all phases of finance, budgeting, and/or accounting. Technical experience includes a comprehensive working knowledge of all accounting areas.
·
5+ years of experience in the medical device, bio-medical or electronic industries are preferred.
·
3+ years of demonstrated experience at a supervisory/managerial level.
·
Highly developed leadership skills/people-management experience sufficient to assume the complex range of personnel issues inherent in this position.
·
Requires the ability to change the thinking of, or gain acceptance of, others in sensitive situations.
·
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with ability to communicate to all levels of the organization
·
Demonstrated experience in leading and/or presenting to teams and senior leadership
·
Experience collaborating with cross-functional teams in a geographically diverse, matrixed organization
Preferred Qualifications:
·
Advanced credential, such as an MBA, CPA, CMA, or CPIM designation or equivalent. Professional certification or designation.
·
Medical device experience
·
Ability to work cooperatively/productively with others.
·
Must be adept at delegation, follow-up, and team building.
·
Demonstrated ability to understand and comply with applicable regulatory requirements (i.e., SOX, etc.) and Company operating procedures, processes, policies, and tasks.
·
Comprehensive verbal and written analytical/problem solving, communication, negotiation, interpersonal, training and presentation skills are essential.
·
Documented record of delivering information that adds value to management's decision making process.
·
Advanced personal computer skills (i.e., MS Office Suite) including demonstrated spreadsheet, word processing, and data-base management capabilities.
·
Experience working in a broader enterprise/cross division business unit model preferred.
·
Ability to work in a highly matrixed and geographically diverse business environment.
·
Strong leadership skills, including the ability to set goals and provide positive and constructive feedback respectfully to build positive relationships and improve business results.
·
Ability to work effectively within a team in a fast-paced changing environment.
·
Strong verbal and written communications with ability to effectively communicate at multiple levels in the organization.
·
Multi-tasks, prioritizes and meets deadlines in timely manner.
·
Strong organizational, planning, and follow-up skills and ability to hold others accountable.
