The Opportunity
This position works out of our Carlsbad CA location on site in our RMDx Division. The person hired in this role will be considered a specialist professional individual contributor with comprehensive knowledge in the area of Manufacturing Process Development. They will be expected to execute highly complex or specialized projects, adapt precedent and may make significant departures from traditional approaches to develop solutions.
In addition, this position will have overall Plant responsibility for Operational Excellence work streams, including Front Line Excellence, Organizational Excellence, Utilities Excellence, OEE Excellence and Maintenance Excellence, as well as removing waste from the business.
What You’ll Work On
The Operational Excellence Leader will be responsible for leading and driving the principle-based behaviors within the plant which include:
Creating value for our business and customers, accountability and ownership at all levels, integration and inclusiveness (within plant and outside of plant), focusing on the process, embracing data & facts, do it right the first time, leading by example and respect for all.
The person hired will also lead an organization’s capability in knowledge and understanding of metrics and measurements which impact the total performance of the plant. In addition, please see below other items which are important to have experience with if hired in this role:

The Operational Excellence Leader will be the catalyst within the plant to appropriately, and respectfully, challenge status quo which will continually drive improvements via best practice replication (learning from within the network and externally), creative and innovative solutions, alignment of goals and objectives and resource planning to deliver results.

Manage execution of project in accordance with organization's project management methodology. Develop, prioritize and submit project plans, budgets and methodologies across a range of key projects. Take ownership of the successful implementation of a set of projects that collectively can comprise a program.

As the Specialist in the Manufacturing Process Development Sub-Function, considered as highly experienced and knowledgeable resource within the organization in designing and developing manufacturing processes for life sciences products, taking into consideration problems inherent in the transfer of technology from research to manufacturing.

Develop procedures for the economical mass production in cooperation with pilot-plant and production departments.
·
Conduct tests and measurements throughout stages of production to determine control over applicable variables.
·
Services, troubleshoots and solves production process problems with processes or equipment already in operation.
·
Requires understanding of compliance, pharmaceutical, pharmacological, biological, biochemical, medical, patent and commercial factors.
·
May make recommendations concerning acquisition and use of new technological equipment and materials.
Required Qualifications
·
Minimum 7 years of experience in a similar role.
·
Associate Degree or higher level of education at minimum.
·
2 or more years of demonstrated success in applying Continuous Improvement / BEx tools.
·
A minimum 2 years of experience in manufacturing operations, business improvement, quality systems or other areas related to the project with an understanding of Abbott internal systems and procedures.
Preferred Qualifications
·
Monitor progress and performance against the project plan.
·
Identify and resolve operational problems and minimize delays.
·
Evaluate and authorize changes that significantly impact the scope, budget, or timeline of a project.
·
Bachelor's degree in similar field
·
5 or more years of experience with Continuous Improvement Projects
·
Six Sigma Black Belt preferred.
·
2 or more years in FDA regulated environments in a similar role.

The base pay for this position is
$109,300.00 – $218,500.00
