JOB DESCRIPTION:
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
Key Objectives :
· Management of clinical stakeholders and KOLs, building networks and maintaining relationships. To be the primary communicator of Abbotts science with healthcare professionals and other stakeholders, as a peer-to-peer scientific expert.
· Having experience and being knowledgeable in molecular/biochemical and microbiological methods and diagnostic principles, to being empowered in discussing these both with internal teams and with external stakeholders.
· Combining clinical expertise as well as strong business acumen, market awareness, to serve as a conduit of information to multiple cross functional external and internal stakeholders.
· Enabling strategic business success by developing and providing medical, clinical, and scientific support to the Greater China Commercial Team. Knowledge of local regulations is essential to provide strategic support to achieve the business objectives of the Abbott Rapid Diagnostics Division
· Reports to the APAC Medical Director. Will work closely with General Manager of Greater China and other MCSO managers. Drive standardization and harmonization of tools and processes across the region
· Support with talent acquisition, coaching, mentoring and establishing training programs to meet customer experience requirements in different markets
Position Accountability / Scope:
· To competently manage the Medical and scientific affairs department in Greater China.
· Collaborate with the commercial team and build medical strategy for Greater China to support and meet shared business objectives.
· Develop and manage relationships with Key Opinion Leader (KOLs), Payers, Advisory Boards, Professional Associations, Healthcare Institutions for strategic development of the Greater China business.
· Prepare the marketplace in new areas of interest, which includes creating awareness and relationships for Abbott in the Medical community.
· Provides appropriate support to the Investigator Initiated Studies/Research projects in the country.
· As a member of by the Medical Affairs department, ensure appropriate support and training provided to all other functions.
· As a member of Medical Affairs Department, provide scientific and clinical input the into key commercial initiatives as required, including new product introductions and related product evaluations.
· Leads as a scientific resource to commercial partners as appropriate to support such activities such as congress staffing, advisory boards, and training (internally/externally).
· Supports the commercial team with any other ad hoc activities that are required for the business.
· Generate proof of Health Economic Outcomes and cost reductions for key brands in the product portfolio
· Frequent Greater China travel (up to 60% of time) is anticipated.
REQUIREMENTS:
Education:
· Preferred educational background: MD Or a degree in Microbiology or a diploma or a degree in Infectious Diseases or molecular biology.
· 3-5 years of experience in the diagnostics or related industry
Experience & Knowledge:
· Experience with emphasis on clinical stakeholders and KOLs
· Demonstrable track record in building networks and maintaining relationships.
· Demonstrated expertise in discussing scientific content and context to multiple audiences.
· Able to discuss studies’ methodology (protocol content, definition of relevant end-points etc…) with scientific/medical audience
· Thorough knowledge of China healthcare industry,
· Entrepreneurial drive, in a dynamic and matrix environment
· Familiarity with diagnostic industry practices in infectious diseases and ideally has familiarity with market(s) relevant to product line.
· Knowledge of regulations and standards affecting IVDs and ability to work with Quality and Regulatory teams.
· Able to work collaboratively with commercial and internal colleagues.
