JOB DESCRIPTION:
We are seeking a high caliber Logistics Analyst who is responsible for implementing and maintaining the effectiveness of the quality system. Provide the logistics/distribution/transportation/supply chain information,analyses,and systems knowledge necessary to determine the most efficient and effective worldwide distribution and transportation patterns. Supports/performs international export and import operations and domestic operations May manage direct reports when it makes sense for the organization.
Impact this role will have on Abbott:
- Evaluate global logistics and distribution and transportation operations,data,and facilities in order to decide the most effective logistics and transportation patterns for products,makes formal recommendation to implement improvements.
- Evaluates and implements results from complex distribution analyses.
- Identify projects,perform data research,review and analyze findings,make recommendations,present findings,implement approved recommendation.
- Identify and manage cost or cycle time reduction projects,perform data research,review and analyze findings,make recommendations,present findings,write final report,implement recommendation.
- Develop and implement improvements based on technological advances,changes in economic circumstances and sound business strategy.
- Develop long range plans to ensure that the distribution of product to our customers is both timely,economical. and with product quality in mind.
- Develop computer and analytical systems to reduce time and cost of obtaining information for distribution and transportation decision making.
- Analyze a distribution situation in terms of elemental and total costs for each operation,identify alternatives & costs,define the costs and savings of the best solution.
- Derive basic cost data using computers and mathematical models.,Influences personnel in other organizations to maintain smooth and efficient worldwide distribution operations.
- Help train and develop other members of department.
- Negotiates transfer rates and transportation rates with outside vendors.
Your experience(s), education and knowledge will further expand Abbott’s marketplace success:
- Bachelors Degree Required: BA or BS in Supply Chain Management preferred.
- 3-5 years experience in Supply Chain or logistics functions is preferred.
- 3-5 years in Supply Chain or Logistics.
- Experience may include manufacturing or distribution environment; experience with financial modeling and analysis; knowledge of materials and inventory computer systems; thorough understanding of Abbott planning / inventory management or distribution systems
- Demonstrated project leadership; transportation supplier experience; exposure to international affiliate operations and their needs and regulations.
