JOB DESCRIPTION:
Job Responsibilities:
The Legal Assistant will work closely with the Labor & Employment paralegals and attorneys in fast-paced and demanding environment. The Legal Assistant will:
- Assist paralegals in the discovery process, including assisting with data/document collection, tracking collections, assisting with the interview process, and drafting/sending legal holds;
- Assist attorneys and paralegals with internal investigations, including working with clients and employees to gather key information and tracking matters received;
- Assisting paralegals in responding to third-party subpoenas and requests for information, including assisting with bates labeling, redaction and filing;
- Handling, preparing and processing general administrative matters and projects, including copying and filing, updating various contact lists, verifying/updating data in various databases, and creating and providing monthly, periodic and special request reports;
- Working with the paralegals and attorneys on special projects and/or additional responsibilities as needed.
Position Accountability/Scope:
- Must have general knowledge of legal terminology.
- Must be self-motivated and detail-oriented with high work standards.
- Must be organized, have ability to prioritize work, perform job responsibilities in a timely manner, meet simultaneous deadlines and ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Must possess strong computer skills, communication skills, writing skills and analytical skills to be used in day to day interactions with clients, employees, internal attorneys and paralegals, outside counsel and outside vendors.
- Executes job responsibilities in a timely manner.
This position reports to the Litigation Paralegal Supervisor.
Position requirements:
Minimum of 1 -3 years of experience within a law firm or corporation, in a litigation setting.
Education Requirements:
Bachelor's Degree Required; Paralegal Certificate preferred
