The Opportunity

Abbott Rapid Diagnostics is part of Abbott’s Diagnostics family of businesses, bringing together exceptional teams of experts and industry leading technologies to support diagnostic testing which provides important information for treatment and management of diseases and other conditions.

The position of Informatics Interface Implementation and Development Specialist is within our [BU/Function] located at Charlottesville Va. This role is responsible for the development and maintenance of the interfaces and generic scripts between the RALS data management system and the hospital LIS/EHRs, with a focus on the Mirth/NextGen interface engine within the product.

What You'll Do:

·  Own all interface development efforts and act as SME/lead of development team while working with leadership and teams across the business to ensure efforts align with current business needs.
·  Own development, validation, and maintenance of current generic scripts within Mirth for current approved LIS/EHR vendors.
·  Work closely with leadership, Interface Development, and Product Management teams to asses/validate new EHR/LIS vendors; to include owning the process of above validation and assessments as well as development of new generic scripts.
·  Provide feedback to engineering and Product Management on real-world customer use cases of the RALS interface and recommend changes/enhancements to Mirth/NextGen interface functionality within RALS.
·  Create and provide ongoing documentation/education on changes/additions to current generics and functions.
·  Provide Interface Team with continuing education regarding best implementation practices, and review/education of new generics.
·  Work closely with Quality department to document the design, approach and components in technical specification documents.
·  Act as Mirth SME supporting the interface team in completing project work and mentoringl peers and Interface analysts on development best practices.
·  Participate in internal script review for each tailored interface provided to end user.
·  Responsible for mandatory weekly time tracking/recording of specific activities such as project work, training, etc. to ensure financial & business compliance.
·  Provide after-hours project support as needed (tier II support to on call analyst)
·  Complete other assigned projects/tasks as necessary.

Required Qualifications:

·  Three-five years of experience with development/validation/functional testing of EHR/LIS middleware interface solutions.
·  Two-three years of experience leading team or in a Sr role with Jr analysts underneath.
·  Demonstrated proficiency with Mirth/Nextgen interface engines.
·  Demonstrated proficiency with Object Oriented Programming (specifically Java Script) and general coding concepts.
·  Demonstrated proficiency working with API connectivity to EHRs.
·  Technical Bachelor’s Degree in computer science related field (or equivalent work experience).
·  Demonstrated proficiency with remote connectivity and network communication protocols.
·  Certification in Mirth/Nextgen Fundamentals.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

·  Technical Bachelor’s Degree with a focus in software engineering.
·  Five years+ supporting and implementing point of care or lab interfaces with LIS/HIS systems such as Meditech, Cerner, Epic, etc.
·  Three years+ experience leading team or in a Sr role with Jr analysts.
·  Product/vendor management experience.
·  Database management experience.
·  Familiarity with Visual Basic 6.
·  Certification in Mirth/Nextgen (Advanced)

The base pay for this position is
$72,700.00 – $145,300.00

In specific locations, the pay range may vary from the range posted.
