Job Description: 

An Opportunity to work as a part of the Product Engineering team with a focus on quality records, corrective actions and preventive actions.  In this role the candidate will work within the Product Engineering team to support the creation and maintenance of quality systems and records.

As an Intermediate Engineer you will be an individual contributor with a high focus on problem solving and technical writing.

This position is focused on non-conformance and CAPA investigations for products.  This position will focus on the generation of high-quality documentation pertaining to investigations, root cause and corrective action.

Responsibilities:             

•  Create and execute efficient experimental strategies using DOE methods to identify continuous improvement and potential design improvements.

•  Independently execute assigned tasks by applying standard engineering theories, concepts and techniques.

•  Document results of experiments in a manner consistent with the Quality System.

•  Create verification, validation and engineering file protocols and reports consistent with the Quality System.

•  Attend cross-functional team meetings to share information.

•  Keep up-to-date with the latest technical developments in related areas, assess and integrate appropriate changes to work practices.

•  Participate and assist individuals or cross functional teams to complete non-conformance (NC) or corrective and preventive (CAPA) investigation documentation to meet APOC standards and quality & regulatory requirements.

•  Write, edit or approve non-conformance (NC) or corrective and preventive action (CAPA) investigation documentation for complex product or process (system) issues.

•  Guide and coach quality decision making investigations and CAPAs.

•  Communicate technical and quality requirements pertaining to issues, root causes and corrective actions to your team, other leaders and others in the organization.

•  Deliver high quality documentation and project plans on time.

•  Track and trend CAPA metric data and create presentations for management reviews.

•  Conduct CAPA process and other required training for new Abtraq (Abbott TrackWise for Quality) users.

•  Other tasks and duties as may be assigned.

Required Experience and Education:

•  Experience with GMP and in working in an ISO and FDA regulated environment is an asset.  Experience with LEAN Six Sigma manufacturing principles is an asset.

•  Superior analytical and problem-solving skills: experience with statistics.

•  Organizational and leadership skills. Project management experience is an asset.

•  Excellent oral and written communication skills and ability to interact effectively with all levels in the organization.

•  Bachelor’s Degree in Science or Engineering with Chemical, Biochemical or Mechanical Engineering focus, or equivalent.

•  Demonstrated initiative and problem-solving skills; critical thinking skills.

•  Ability to design experiments, analyze and interpret data, and document conclusions.

•  Analytical skills, creativity and innovative approach to problem solving.

•  Ability to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary team members and work independently.

•  Willingness to work in labs, manufacturing areas, and office environments.

•  Very strong investigational skills, drive to understand and solve problems.

•  Propensity for continuous learning and experimentation.

•  Ability to apply mathematical concepts and statistics.

•  Effective at dealing with a variety of people and understanding/communicating their requirements.

•  Self-directed, proactive and not easily discouraged.

•  Excellent organizational, planning and scheduling skills.

•  Good oral/written communication skills.

•  1-3 relevant years in an engineering or technical role is preferred.

•  Experience in a manufacturing environment is considered an important asset.

•  Experience working in an ISO and FDA regulated environment is an asset.

•  Experience with LEAN Six Sigma manufacturing principles is an asset.
