JOB DESCRIPTION:

Abbott’s Cybersecurity Architecture team is responsible for the security of Abbott’s data, applications, network, systems, end-user devices and Abbott’s overall cyber architecture on premise or in the cloud.  We are looking for a highly motivated and passionate person to join our team.  The select applicant will work with the Architecture team on multiple projects and initiatives with an emphasis on DLP (Data Loss Protection) technologies (i.e., Microsoft 0365, Symantec and/or McAfee DLP, AWS, etc.)

Additional projects and initiatives the select applicant will work on include:

  • industrial control security
  • application security
  • network security
  • managed cloud security
  • mobility security
  • end point security
  • Identity & Access Management

The Cybersecurity Engineer key areas of responsibilities:

  • Review security designs to ensure they comply with security best practices
  • Guide the application and technical specialists during the design phase in what and how their applications, appliances and/or solutions should be secured or mitigated against risk.
  • Aligns cybersecurity with the business needs and objectives. 
  • Maintain and track metrics for specific initiatives and projects
  • Document operationalization of technologies and procedures

Knowledge and skills

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong writing and oral communication skills
  • Excellent teamwork, yet strong individual worker.
  • knowledge of TCP/IP networks
  • basic understanding of firewalls and IPSs
  • ability to read and understand reports from vulnerability scanning and pen testing
  • a basic understanding of the OWASP top 10
  • a basic understanding of NIST CSF
  • Ability to work with cross-functional teams.
  • One or multiple formal certification in security such as CompTIA Security+, CISSP a plus but not required.

Minimum Education and Work Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree plus a minimum of 1 year of related work experience with a strong understanding of specified functional area, or an equivalent combination of education and work experience. Degree in Computer Science or related discipline a plus but not required.
