THE OPPORTUNITY
This position is field based in Ontario in the Neuromodulation (NM) division. Abbott NM includes implantable devices compatible with mobile technology to help people who suffer from chronic pain and movement disorders. These non-opioid therapies allow us to provide interventional pain therapy to patients throughout the pain continuum.
WHAT YOU’LL DO
• Represent Abbott Neuromodulation group during surgeries and implants by providing all necessary equipment and products required for the SCS/ DRG/ RF/ DBS implant, demonstrate expertise in all aspects of implant, follow-up support and troubleshooting techniques (such as proper device selection, appropriate programming, correct implantation and testing of all device systems);
• Maintain current knowledge about assigned products and services as well as competitive products;
• For new and existing accounts, this position is able to proactively identify needs and teach a broader level of caregivers and account employees. This position educates and trains physicians, hospital personnel and office staff on technical matters relating to our products and therapies. This is achieved by coordinating: one-on-one sessions, in-service education programs, seminars and/or outside symposiums.
• Assist National Sales Manager and in-house training department in education/training of new employees in the region (sales reps, clinical specialists, field clinical engineers, etc.);
• Provide sales support during or following cases such as completing the necessary documentation (for example: implant registration, temporary id cards, packing list) and is able to execute invoices in a variety of different situations. This position is able to place an order with customer service for pending purchase orders and product replacement;
• Maintain open and effective communication with all region personnel, customers and other employees;
• Contribute to the completion of milestones associated with specific projects at the regional and/or national level;
• Ensure personal understanding of all quality policy/system items that are personally applicable. Follow all work/quality procedures to ensure quality system compliance and high quality work;
• Implement and teach Abbott’s proprietary remote program system, NeuroSphere to an expert-level, and act as a primary subject matter expert;
• Ability to program devices and assist physicians and nurses program DBS/ SCS/ DRG devices;
• Frequent required travel to customer clinics, hospitals and offsite meetings. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to be independently mobile. The employee is also required to interact with a computer and communicate with peers and co-workers;
• Perform other related activities, as assigned.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant technical field;
• 1-3 years of experience in a similar role;
• Professional training/education certification or designation;
• A comprehensive ability to analyze and evaluate technologically complex devices;
• Ability to work with others effectively;
• Ability to prepare and present effectively written and verbal communications;
• Thorough familiarity with medical device industry policies, operations and procedures;
• Documented record of delivering strategic marketing information;
• Expert verbal and written communication, interpersonal and presentation skills;
• Demonstrated working knowledge of frequently used personal computer programs and applications, such as, Microsoft Office;
• A comprehensive understanding of neuroanatomy and or neuromodulation technology
• Clinical experience in a medical device environment;
• Experience with a medical device company or pharmaceutical company, and clinical experience in a specialty area: neuro-physiology, surgical, neurology, neurosurgery, orthopedic, operating room;
• Knowledge of active implantable or cranial devices procedures;
• Demonstrable success in previous employment indicated by high level of sales performance;
• Must demonstrate deep understanding of the customer to drive and challenge status quo;
• Ability to exercise judgment within generally defined practices and policies in selecting methods and techniques for obtaining solutions;
• Must successfully complete training;
• Schedule flexibility for case coverage and client meetings after hours and on weekends;
• Ability to travel a minimum of 50% of the time.
