JOB DESCRIPTION:

Primary Function / Primary Goals / Objectives:

The primary function of the CAD Admin / Designer is to provide support for AN Division Engineering support, which includes 4 key areas:

Global support for the Engineering Content Management System (ECMS) for the Abbott Nutrition Supply Chain (ANSC) vault.

CAD Administration Support, including managing the Controlled Drawing policy.

Design + Drawing Administration Support for Global Engineering projects.

Support for other functional organizations within Supply Chain and R&D

This is an individual contributor role that will interface (face to face/calls/emails) with Abbott Nutrition sites and functions in countries all around the world, requiring flexibility in communication and cultural sensitivities.

Essential Responsibilities

Global support for the Engineering Content Management System:

  • Generation and execution of all required System Lifecycle Software QA documentation.
    • URS, FRD, DS, User test protocols, system test protocols, data migration plans, etc.
    • Generation of all compliance wire training documents, guidance documents and job aides for the system.
  • Provide support to engineers regarding the use of ECMS.

CAD Administrative support functions:

  • Setting up and manage CAD related contracts or purchase orders for completing as-builts for AN Engineering projects
  • Work with A/E Firms and Vendors in a Liaison role to provide guidance on how to work within the Abbott Nutrition Engineering Drawing Standards framework (Note: the standards have historically been applied only to North America Plant projects.)
  • Manage the issuance and update of the AN Engineering Drawing Standards, work the plants to keep the processes and procedures effective and efficient.
  • Provide engineering drawing strategy development, provide Subject Matter Expert (SME) guidance and Key Opinion Leader (KOL) support for technology and strategy.
  • Coordinating the AN Drawing Standards and expectations to all project managers and A&E firms and vendors.
  • Manage the use and supplies for engineering large format plotters located at Easton Square on the 3rd floor.
  • Provide purchasing support, Capital requests, project management, and closeouts for CAD related equipment and tools such as workstations, plotters, and supplies.
  • Assist engineers with use of CAD software, Plotters, ECMS – ANSC vault.
  • Maintain the CAD Server file structure architecture.
  • Documentation Creation for Training and knowledge transfer

Design and Admin Support for Global Engineering projects

  • Generate preliminary layout options and design support for FEP process
  • Generate preliminary P&IDs, Process Flow Diagrams, and Electrical drawings.
  • Generate Final as built layouts, P&IDs, PFDs, electrical drawings.
  • Review completed drawings from A&E firms and vendors to ensure compliance with the AN drawing standard.
  • Review completed drawings from A&E firms and vendors to ensure compliance with the controlled drawing policy.
  • Administration of drawings for Abbott Nutrition, AN, Engineering projects
  • Issuing out existing drawings for project modifications.
  • Creating new drawing numbers for any new files for project modifications / additions.
  • Returning all completed as built drawings; existing drawings, new drawings, voided drawings.
  • Create PFDs for processing on any AN plant.
  • Create PFDs for packaging lines on any AN plant.
  • Walk-down and verification of utility distribution drawings, process systems, and utility systems

Division CAD support – Engineering, Logistics, EHS, Maintenance, R&D Pilot Plant and PRC and Supply Chain.

  • Warehouse racking design and layouts.
  • EHS drawing creation for evacuation plans, flammable storage locations, emissions drawings, etc.
  • R&D Pilot Plant and Process Research Center general drawing support, searching, printing, updating drawings, creating design layouts, capital project drawing management, as built drawing support.
  • Supply Chain and Logistics team, identify available plant space for future expansions, generate preliminary equipment/facility layouts, expansion layouts, provide drawing support to locate drawings, pdfs, printing, etc.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Controlled Drawing policy management. (AN05-96-001)
    • Perform periodic review of the controlled drawing policy.
    • Provide communication on training, updates and
    • Coordinate updates with all key stakeholders along with QA and Engineering Validation team.
    • Responsible for adherence to the policy, may involve audits of recently updated drawings to verify compliance.
  • Complies with all regulations and standards for quality, Environmental, Health, Safety, and Energy (EHS&E) Global Policies, Abbott Engineering Standards, and other governance areas as applicable

Qualifications/Background

  • Extensive competencies and knowledge of CAD design software such as AutoCAD, Inventor, SolidWorks, Revit, Plant 3D
  • Ability to create and develop drawings and schematics – both 2d and 3d engineering drawings
  • Ability to communicate well and work effectively with division, project, and plant teams across multiple levels in the organizations and vendors
  • Ability to convert ideas into effective solutions for manufacturing and engineering - decisions made by this position have can have direct impact to product and process based on proposed designs to solve issues or implement new improvement projects
  • Accountability- works under general direction toward predetermined goals and objectives
  • Adaptability and flexibility including the ability to manage deadlines
  • Strong Microsoft Office experience, including Access
  • Strong interpersonal and technical skills

Technical Competence

  • While not required, a strong understanding and understanding of manufacturing background will be very beneficial in this role as many of the projects being supported through this team are in support of AN’s manufacturing network.
  • Preference to candidates who have an understanding of electrical/control drawings
