The Opportunity

This position works out of our [Alameda, CA] location in the  Corporate Financial Services supporting the Abbott Diabetes Care Division.

As the Accountant,  you’ll have the chance to work closely with accounting and FP&A teams at various levels across the organization to provide accounting guidance and address any issues that arise. You will lead and manage the journal entry and reconciliation completion and maintenance process. You will also have an opportunity to be involved in various ad hoc projects  the ADC division and partner with cross functional teams across the organization.  You will provide accounting guidance and support to our offshore team members as and will have opportunities to seek, propose, and drive process improvements across your areas of responsibilities.

What You'll Work On:

· 
Execute timely and accurate financial activities in support of business partners.

· 
Responsible for assigned month-end closing activities, including, journal entry preparation, approval, account analysis, intercompany transfers and account reconciliations.

· 
Provide guidance and support for master data requests, accounting compliance and reporting to business partners.

· 
Responsible for monthly journal entry and reconciliation maintenance activities.

· 
Ensure compliance with SOX, internal controls, Abbott Corporate and division/department specific policies and procedures

· 
Provide support for internal and external audits

· 
Maintain Standard Operating Procedures for assigned activities

· 
Operate independently, be flexible in changing environment and challenge the status quo.

· 
Support all Company initiatives and ad-hoc requests as identified by management.

Required Qualifications

· 
Bachelors degree in Accounting, Finance or Business Administration

· 
2+ years progressively responsible Accounting experience

· 
Strong Microsoft skills, including use of pivot tables, vlookups and analysis of data using Excel

Preferred Qualifications

· 
Experience with large ERP system; SAP preferred

· 
Ability to work within a team and as an individual contributor in a fast-paced, changing environment.

· 
Experience working in a broader enterprise/cross-division business unit model preferred.

· 
Ability to work in a highly matrixed and geographically diverse business environment.

· 
Requires knowledge of accounting regulations of operational accounting issues.

· 
Ability to leverage and/or engage others to accomplish projects.

· 
Strong verbal and written communications with ability to effectively communicate at multiple levels in the organization.

· 
Multitasks, prioritizes and meets deadlines in timely manner.

· 
Strong organizational and follow-up skills, as well as attention to detail.

· 
CPA preferred but not required

· 
Ability to travel approximately 10%.

The base pay for this position is
$65,900.00 – $131,900.00

In specific locations, the pay range may vary from the range posted.
