JOB DESCRIPTION:

The Data Science internship will provide hands-on experience with broad exposure to the analytics and data science disciplines within the Abbott Nutrition Division. The areas of focus could include: data manipulation and analysis, model building, and data visualization. The intern will be assigned a meaningful and challenging assignment that will be geared towards a specific business need. The intern will have an opportunity to demonstrate leadership skills and analytical ability.  The ideal candidate will combine technical and business knowledge with analytical strength and creative problem-solving abilities.

Primary Function / Primary Goals / Objectives:

Responsible for supporting advanced analytics projects by delivering actionable recommendations by identifying, designing, and implementing studies utilizing statistical modeling techniques.

Major Responsibilities:

·  Maintain and update predictive models.
·  Collect, query, integrate, and transform data, including data extraction, cleaning, and stratification processes, across a wide range of syndicated and proprietary data sources. 
·  Analyze data using appropriate methodologies.
·  Conduct Ad Hoc analysis.
·  Interact and conduct strategic discussions with multi-divisional leaders.

Education:

Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mathematics, Statistics, or Data Science.

Qualifications :

·  Hands-on experience required in statistical modeling, business analysis, design of experiments and stratified samples, multivariate regression (logistic, Bayesian hierarchical, etc.), machine learning techniques, and incomplete data analysis.
·  Proven skillsets in statistical programming (such as SAS and/or R)
·  Familiarity with database design and SQL with strong Extract, Transform and Load (ETL) skills, required.
·  Desktop computing skills and experience using one or more word processing, spreadsheet (e.g., Microsoft Excel) and presentation graphics (e.g., Microsoft PowerPoint) software programs.
·  Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
·  Requires a high level of organization, strong project management skills, and a penchant for details.
·  Must be enrolled in school the semester following your internship.
·  Authorized to work in the United States without requiring sponsorship now or in the future.
