Mission/Purpose of the Job

This position provides strategic and operational human resources and people development to the Charlotte, NC site. The HRM contributes to business objectives by working closely with the management team to execute the HR and PD strategy.  

 

Key Responsibilities/Accountabilities 

·  Own the site HR strategy and agenda, represent the site in HR matters 
·  Work closely with managers on people & culture topics and initiate activities based on business needs 
·  Be an active member of the site Management Team as well as the Volvo HR Networks. 
·  Promote positive employee relations and attitude through the use of effective HR processes and way of working. 
·  Support the organization in general HR topics 
·  Implement the service delivery model as well as strategies and policies regarding compensation and benefits, employee relations, competence and talent management and development, workforce planning, recruitment, performance management, etc. 
·  Integrate and align HR plans to support achievement of site/region/global business objectives. 
·  Employee ETO and time reconciliation. 
·  New employee onboarding processes. 
·  Monitor compliance with policies and laws by inspecting employees and operations. 
·  Working with Safety, investigate accidents or incidents to discover causes and handle worker’s compensation claims. 
·  Recommend solutions to manpower past, present or future issues, improvement opportunities or new prevention measures. 
·  Be the owner of VPS People Development. 
·  Champion the Volvo culture as well as assure alignment of management actions with Volvo Group values and principles. 

Critical Competencies

·  Thorough knowledge of US employment law and HR professional practices. 
·  Coaching/facilitation/advising skills to help drive transformation and change in the organization. 
·  Conflict resolution skills. 
·  Excellent written and verbal communications skills (including effective presentation skills) with the ability to interact comfortably at all levels of the organization. 
·  Good knowledge of manufacturing principles. 
·  Deep understanding of legal HR guidelines. 
·  Ability to produce reports and develop relevant policies. 
·  Good knowledge of data analysis and risk assessment. 

Essential Educational and/or Training Qualifications and Certificates

·  Bachelor’s degree in human resources, business, or related discipline or equivalent experience 
·  3-10 years’ experience in human resources within a manufacturing/production environment preferred. 
·  HR Certification is highly regarded

·  Ability to network effectively across a diverse organization and to build relationships across functional areas and geographical areas;

·  Ability to coach managers and employees in handling various employment and management related issues; 
·  Ability to work collaboratively with other HR Business Partners as part of the HR Network;

Other Requirements

At the Volvo Group, we strive for a clear, transparent, and straightforward compensation approach, motivating you to contribute to the company’s growth. For this position, the base pay is set at $96,000 - $118,500 annually, and where applicable, bonus eligible.  The range for this role, as well as final salary offered, is determined by several factors including, but not limited to, geographic location, work-related knowledge, certifications, skills, education, and experience. In addition to these factors, we believe in the importance of pay equity and consider internal equity of our current team members as part of any final offer.
